I slipped the mango colored shirt on and then quickly pulled my ponytail out.
"How are you already almost late to school on your first day?" My mother yelled from down the stairs.
I looked in the mirror and started to comb my hair with my fingers. Today, I didn't bother to put a lot of makeup on like I usually did. I grabbed my backpack and ran down the stairs.
I walked into the kitchen, hopping on one foot trying to slip my other shoe in. I headed for the toaster and tried to slip out the hot poptarts.
My mother got in the way and pulled the poptarts out and set it on a napkin.
"Go!" She yelled.
I grabbed the napkin and slipped on my other shoe. Opening the door, I saw Jayson's silver car.
I walked to the car and hopped inside.
"What took you so long?" Jayson laughed.
"Woke up like ten minutes late," I said and then took a bite of my poptarts.
"Hi!" somebody said.
I almost dropped my poptarts at the voice. I turned around and saw a girl my age with long, brown hair and big eyes. Her skin was perfectly tan and the white dress she wore looked perfect on her.
"Uh, hey," I said.
"My name is Kat," the girl smiled.
"Hello Kat, my name is Madeline," I said.
"That's my really ugly, annoying sister," Jayson said driving.
Kat smacked Jayson upside the head.
"I'm not ugly or annoying, that's all you asshole," she said.
"Okay, loner," he said. Kat frowned but then she smiled at me. I smiled back and took a bite of my poptart.
"We're here," Jayson said. I looked up at the big school with a lot of big, glass windows in the front. This school was really cool.
"It's huge," I said.
"Are you a Senior?" Kat's cheery voice said.
"Yes, you?" I said.
"Same," she said. I smiled.
"Want my poptart?" I said handing out the poptart to her in the napkin.
"She doesn't like poptarts which I think is not normal," Jayson said. My eyes widened and I kept the poptart, taking another bite of it.
How does this girl not like poptarts? Poptarts are heaven. If I ever have a dog, I would name it poptart.
"Sorry," she looked at me with a grin.
I looked up at the school, swinging my backpack behind me and closing the car door.
"Has the bell rang Jayson?" Kat said.
"Obviously not dipwad," Jayson said to his sister. I tried not to laugh out loud at the name he just called her.
"You are so mean to me," she said.
"I love you," Jayson laughed. Kat shook her head. She was tall. Taller than me by a little bit and looked older. Her long, brown hair was curled behind her back.
"I don't usually dress like this but my mom insisted that I wore this dress," Kat said. I hadn't noticed that I was staring at Kat's features.
"Oh no! It's really pretty don't get me wrong. You're just really gorgeous," I said. Her hazel eyes lit up and she smiled.
"Thanks, you too! I love your eyes. What color are they?" Kat asked.
"I'm not sure. They're kind of hazelish blue," I said.
"That's so cool," she said looking into my eyes in admiration.
"You have the cutest little nose and a small smile but perfect teeth," she said looking at me again, "ahh so cute!"
"Thank you," I laughed.
I heard a loud bell and everybody walked inside the school. I followed beside Kat.
I felt really insecure next to Kat. I was wearing super light jeans from American Eagle and a mango shirt with a black leather jacket.
I started playing around with the silver elephant necklace around my neck. I really missed my dad.
My mood was going down until it went back up when Kat swung her arm around my shoulder and pulled me closer to her.
"Why are you so sad?" she said.
"Oh sorry, I'm just really nervous!" I said and tried to put on a smile.
"There it is! Your cute little smile," Kat gushed.
I laughed and covered my mouth with my hand. Kat smiled and pulled me closer to a group of people near a bunch of lockers.
"These are my friends," Kat whispered. I nodded. My heart started racing. I was walking towards people I didn't know plus I looked horrible today. What if they think I'm weird? They all look perfect and I was jealous.
"Hey guys!" Kat said. Everybody looked up at Kat.
"Oh my god Kat!" A girl yelled out and hugged her. A few more people hugged Kat.
"Who are you?" A girl smiled at me.
"M-my name is Madeline," I said nervously. Dang it, I just ruined it with my shaky voice.
"Cute name! My name is Stella," the girl cheered. Stella had big blue eyes with blonde hair and I was positive she had to be a cheerleader.
"Thank you, hi Stella," I smiled.
"You are so freaking pretty!" A girl said. I looked over at the girl with red hair and brown eyes.
"Isn't she? I love her hair," another girl said.
"My name is Ciara," the girl with red hair said.
"My name is Fay," the other girl with blonde hair said.
So many names.
"I like your style," Stella said.
My self esteem just boosted three hundred points.
"Thanks," I said.
"You're cute," a deep voice said.
I looked up at a kid with messy, blonde hair and brown eyes. He had dimples.
"Thank you," I blushed.
"My name is Jeremy," he said. I nodded and smiled.
"Stay away from him," Kat whispered to me laughing. Everybody laughed.
The late bell rang and everybody gasped and said good-bye to each other.
"Let's go," Kat smiled at me.
I grabbed my schedule and looked at the first class I had.
"Where is room 246?" I said.
Kat pointed to a door that was next to a set of lockers. People were walking into the classroom.
"I hate English," I groaned,
"Tell me about it," Kat laughed.
I folded up my schedule and was about to start walking towards the door when Kat's voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Hey, I'll see you at lunch!" She grinned and a boy with brown hair walked up to her. They kissed and Kat looked at me one more time before walking away.
"I'll see you at lunch too," I murmured and walked into the class.
END OF CHAPTER.
