26. Chapter 26

3 Months Later

“How are you doing today?” Ella asked Hayden who was casually leaning into the green sofa

“I’m good” she answered and to think she would be used to therapy by now...she still didn’t think she needed help but obviously she did

“Have you been writing in the book I gave you?”

“Yes” She had been writing in the book and most of the pages consisted of something Russell, Ryan or Adrianna related

“Great” Ella answered writing something down “How is the living Situation?”

Things with Annabelle hadn’t been going so smoothly over the last two months and it was only a matter of time before they had another fall out.

“I don’t live with Annabelle anymore”

Ella furrowed her eyebrows “Who do you stay with now?” she asked

“My friend Sam”

“How did that come about?”

Hayden remembered the day clearly

“You can’t tell me who to see Annabelle” Hayden raised her voice

“I am your guardian and last time I checked even Adrianna didn’t want you hanging out with that kid”

It’s not that Annabelle was a bad guardian but they always bumped heads regardless and that didn’t help anyone. She had continued seeing Russell and sneaking off behind her back which didn’t work out to well because she got caught

“That kid? He has a name Annabelle”

“Russell, she didn’t want you with Russell”

“He is a good guy” Hayden defended him

Annabelle snorted and looked the other way “He is a ‘bad boy’ Hayden, They are never good”

“Russell isn’t like that” she pressed

“Hayden what do you know what he is like huh...You’ve been lying about you’re whereabouts for weeks now”

“I know and I’m sorry but you wouldn’t have let me see him”

“Yes you’re right and that’s with reason”

“Why? because everyone else says stuff about him?”

“Yes Hayden even officer Paul thinks-”

“I don’t care about what he thinks Annabelle”

“You know what Hayden; you are not the same girl anymore”

“Same girl? I stopped being the same girl when my parents decided they didn’t want me anymore. I’m almost 18 Annabelle I can see and date whomever I want”

“Not under my roof”

“Fine then” Hayden walked to her room and started packing her stuff

“This conversation isn’t done Hayden” Annabelle said following her behind “You’re not leaving, I promised Adrianna I would take care of you”

“Take care of me? Annabelle you and I both know this isn’t working” Hayden spoke while packing the things she could get her hands on

“I just need space” Hayden answered, if people weren’t going to be happy about her and Russell then that was their problem to fix  .It sounded naive but she wasn’t letting him go. He needed her and most of all she needed him.

“I really don’t feel like talking about it, can I leave?” she asked

Ella looked at her watch and sighed

“Same time next week Hayden” she told her and stood up
