After the Great Hall had calmed down, Flitwick got out another stool, stood on it himself, removed a scroll from his breast pocket and cleared his throat.
"Anderson, Yvonne" A small, plump girl with black hair got onto the stool and put on the hat. After around 30 seconds of consideration, he hat exclaimed "RAVENCLAW!"
Cleo leaned towards Albus and whispered "Muggle born, I hear she lives in Scotland."
As other names were called out, Cleo managed to say something about every student who went up to the stool.
"How do you know all this?" Albus asked, after about 12 students had gone up.
"When you have an older brother like mine, " She smiled "And a father like ours, you know all about who's who."
"Finnigan, Cleo" Flitwick called out.
Cleo walked up to the hat with a spring in her step and a smile on her face. She spotted her brother on the way up and winked to him. He had spikey dark brown hair and a crooked smile, complimented with dark blue eyes.
The hat had barley been placed on her head when "GRYFFINDOR!" was yelled. The table erupted with claps and cheers. Before the hat was even taken off her head, she squeezed her eyes shut and in an instant, her hair went from short cotton candy purple to long, curly chestnut brown with red tips. The house were already in awe of her.
As Albus waited for his name to be called out, he spotted Professor Longbottom sitting to the left of the large gold chair with an old, strict looking witch sat.
"McGonagall." Albus whispered under his breath. She had taught his father and was now Headmistress at Hogwarts.
Mumbles could be heard from the crowd. Albus glanced towards the Gryffindor table, where Cleo had sat next to James. She saw him looking and winked at him.
When the hat was placed onto his head, the room seemed to disappear. He could only see the insides of the hat, and could only hear its' whispers.
"Hmm, bit of all of them, this one. Mind you, your father was the same. He was nearly a Slytherin, you know. I told him he'd do well there, but he didn't listen. I can gather you'd be the same. Aha! I sense a GRYFFINDOR!" A flood of relief fell over Albus. He'd done it; he had been able to live up to his brother.
As he made his way to the Gryffindor tables, Professor Longbottom gave him a shy thumbs up.
He took his place next to Cleo and James, and then realized he was opposite his family! Victoire, Louis, Dominique, Molly, Lucy, Roxanne and Fred were all opposite him. A beaming smile came across his face. He was almost certain he'd never been happier.
"Oh no!" Cleo exclaimed.
"What?" James looked around alerted. Sitting on the stool, was the same blonde girl from before.
"That girl. She lives with the Malfoys. I'm guessing by the outburst in your compartment earlier today, you know who they are." Albus blushed, he didn't realise Rose was that loud. Clearly they ad already made a enemy, and they hadn't even had dinner.
"SLYTHERIN!" The table clapped and cheered as she took her place next to Scorpius, but not before she had given them all the most icy stare possible under the presence of teachers.
"Wow, " Cleo muttered, "She clearly didn't like you guys standing up to Scorpius!"
"Weasley, Rose," Flitwick's clear, almost excited voice rang across the hall as he realised yet another Weasley was going to join the long line of those in Hogwarts.
As she went up to the stool, someone from further down the Gryffindor table yelled out "GRYFFINDOR!", imitating the Sorting Hat. He was then shushed by someone sitting near him, to which he replied "What?! She's clearly with us, she's a Weasley!" This made Rose even more stressed out.
However, the hat had barley touched her head when, as predicted, "GRYFFINDOR!" was yelled out. She went a father bright shade of pink. Mutters of, "Told you," could be heard from the Gryffindor table.
"Welcome home, Rose." Louis smiled. Finally, Hogwarts seemed to be just like home, just as Albus' father had promised.
