As everyone filed into the classroom, I took my normal seat to the left of Natasha. In the few minutes before our teacher called the role and told us the announcements, loud conversations broke out, passed around the room like a football passed around a team. "So, how's life?" Natasha and I both said in unison, as we do every morning. Smiling, I grabbed her left sleeve which was hanging by her side due to her broken wrist, "Not to bad, what about you?" We subsided into fits of giggles as I waved the sleeve around, putting on a fake American accent. "Oh, Bree!" she gasped between laughs.
Soon enough, it was breaktime and gradually Sophie, Addison and Yasmine came from their separate classes. As we settled down outside, food in hand, Lucy was talking about the One Direction concert that her and I were going to next month.
"Oh my gosh! I can't wait, we're gonna be in the presence of Niall Horan!!" she squealed excitedly. "Well, that's all good and well for you, Lulu, but just think... Harry Styles!" I breathed spreading my arms and staring dreamily at the sky. My daydream ended abruptly when Natasha poked me in the ribs and pointed across the playground. Following the direction of her finger, I gazed towards him, walking along with his head down, shirt sleeves rolled up, hands shoved into his pockets and kicking a small stone about as he trailed after Jay and Lucas.
I glanced up to see her laughing and joking around with her friends, the blonde one was jumping about excitedly and frantically fanning her face. Sneaking a peek from under my brown fringe, I watched as she raised her arms in a banner and looked up to the sky. I quickly returned my sight to the ground, scuffing my feet and shoving my hands further into my pockets when I realised that one of her friends had noticed me and was now looking in my direction.
The bell suddenly rang, signalling the end of break, and I hurried to catch up to Jay and Lucas who were in a heated discussion over which football team was best. Sighing, I joined in with the rant as we made our way to the maths classroom.
