I stood at the bus stop as my hair danced wildly in the wind, attempting to tame it and miserably failing, I glanced up at the bus making its way round the corner.
After holding my pass up to the driver, I made my way carefully down the back to where Em sat. Letting my bags tumble off my shoulder, I plonked myself down, followed shortly by Peter and Jay who came through primary school with us.
Peter sat opposite me and I couldn't help but notice the way he pulled his hands through his neat brown hair. His hazel eyes flicked towards me and I quickly dropped my gaze, turning to Emily who was giving me "the look".
"What?!" I exclaimed in a loud whisper, trying to hide my embarrassment. She raised her eyebrows, "You should have seen the look on your face when he was fixing his hair!" Silently laughing, she only giggled harder when I gave her a stern glare. "Well it's hard not to look at something directly in front of me." I shrugged it off.
The Rebellions all knew about my crush on Peter, it started in Primary 7 and here I am, still fantasising over him in Second Year. Natasha and Lucy both ship me and Peter, Emily always teases me while Sophie says he's ugly and I could do much better, but then I remind her of Michael and that shuts her up.
We arrive at our stop and trudge off the bus and along the streets to school, Emily and I occasionally mumbling about how tired we are.
"So," I say, as we both twist the keys in our lockers, yanking them open to gather our books for the day, "are you getting the bus today?" I turn to Emily, running my hand through my long, tangled hair.
"Don't think so. What do we have first two periods?" she brushes my question aside, pulling folders from her bag and shoving them back into the dump she calls a locker. Sighing tiredly I reply, "Double period of Biology. Still doing blood and circulation, aren't we?" and we continue this yawnsome chatter until we reach our form classroom where Natasha, Lucy and Opal are standing. I can feel the atmosphere tense even more as I walk towards Tasha and Lulu, ignoring the death stare I'm receiving from Opal.
