12. Chapter 12

Taylor’s POV

Lily, Liam, and I went back to Louis’ room after he got out of the emergency room. He only had to stay overnight because they got the new antibiotic in him and they’ve run tests to make sure it was working.

Lily’s phone suddenly rang, and as she left the room, Nurse Bronx came in to check on Louis.

“Alright, Louis. You’ll be checked out later today by Dr. Lan, and your next checkup will be in three days. We’ll check over your wound and make sure the antibiotic is working,” she informed him.

“Thank you,” Louis said. Nurse Bronx then exited.

“Hey, I’m going to get a bottle of water. Anyone want any?” I asked. Everyone shook their head no. I exited the room to find Nurse Bronx talking to Lily. Well, more like a harsh whisper. “What’s going on out here?”

“Oh, just telling Lily some reports on Liam,” Nurse Bronx lied to me.

“It didn’t sound like it,” I responded. I looked at Lily for the truth, but I could see Nurse Bronx glaring at her.

“Yeah, just reports,” Lily played along. Nurse Bronx then smiled and walked away.

“Come with me,” I said to Lily, pulling her arm with me. “What just happened?” We walked fast to the cafeteria.

“She’s threatening me to stay away from Liam. She says she knows what happened to us, and she wouldn’t be afraid to repeat it,” Lily squeaked out. Sometimes she gets really shy when she’s scared.

“Lily, I’ll protect you, I’ll confront-”

“No, Taylor! You don’t need to be my bodyguard anymore!” Lily snapped at me. I quickly looked down.

“I don’t want to be your bodyguard, Lily. I want to help you, the way you helped me when Dad nearly killed me. I don’t want you to end up like me,” I said, raising my shirt a little to reveal one of the major scars from the knife Dad hurt me with. It’s on the left side of my stomach, going from my bottom rib to my hip bone. Lily quickly pulled it back down.

“Okay, I’m sorry. What are we going to do?”

“As of right now, I’ll just stay with you whenever we see her,” I said. It’s really the only thing we can do. She nodded her head, and I grabbed my water. Then we went back to the room.

Later that night, when we got back to the flat, Louis and Liam started looking for houses again.

“This one has a nice living room and kitchen,” I heard Liam say.

“This one has a big backyard,” Louis would respond. Back and forth, they kept checking out houses. “Taylor! Lily! Come here, we think we found one,” Louis called out.

“What’s going on?” Niall asked me.

“Liam and Louis are looking for a house for us four to move into because it’s getting crowded in here with us two,” I pointed at Lily and I, “and now they have wheelchairs…”

“You’re going to leave us?” Niall asked, giving the puppy dog look.

“Aw, Niall,” Lily said, rubbing his arm. “If you really don’t want us to leave then talk to Louis and Liam.”

“I will. But first, I need to talk to Harry and Zayn.” With that, Niall went to go find Harry in his room, and Lily and I found the boys.
