"Thanks for coming guys. As you all know my dad passed away a few days ago. It's been really hard and I don't see it getting better any time soon. I just wanted to tell you all together that I'll be going home tomorrow for the funeral. I don't know how long I'll be their but Niall will be coming with me," I say once everyone is seated in my flat.
"We're all here for you if you need us," Dani says getting up and wrapping her arms around me.
"Thanks but I don't want sympathy for what happened. I don't want to think about it. I just want to get through it," I say wiping a tear from my eye.
"How about we help you pack? We can spend some girl time together before you leave," Perrie suggests.
"That would be lovely actually. Um the rest of you can just stay in here and watch telly if you like," I say talking to the boys.
"That's okay, I guess we can go to Niall's flat and help him pack," Zayn says probably sensing that I don't want to be around a lot of people right now.
"Well, let's go to your room!" Eleanor says grabbing my arm and leading me to my bedroom and Danielle, Perrie and Rose follow.
"So what are you going to want packed?" Rose asks once I take my suit case out of the closet.
"Just normal clothes, it's probably not that cold but not too warm right now in Mullingar. Long sleeve shirts and pants should be fine and I'll pack my black dress and black flats for the funeral," I say trying not to choke on the word funeral.
"So I'm sure Dani knows all about your family but we don't, what're they like?" Perrie asks trying to start a conversation.
"My dad was great, he was so in love with my mum. I've always wanted a relationship like the one they had. My mum is a very caring person, she's best friends with Niall's mum coincidently. I also have a twin brother called Matthew, but everyone calls him Matt," I sum up my family. It's getting easier talking about my dad, on the outside anyway. I don't cry whenever he's mentioned but my heart still breaks.
"You have a twin brother?" Eleanor asks.
"Yeah we were really close when we were young but when I started skipping years in school we drifted apart. He's transferring from Dublin Uni so he can go to school here in London and live in my flat with me. We're hoping to get close again," I tell them. I wish I could tell them more about my brother but I don't really know anything about his life anymore.
"I've always wanted a twin! Are he and Niall twins?" Rose asks while putting a pile of folded shirts into my suitcase.
"Yeah he and Niall were always really close since they were in the same year at school. Actually, Niall got his nickname for me, four eyes, from Matt. They used to call me that whenever I looked at one of them," I say smiling at the memory.
"Sounds like you and your brother had a really cute relationship before you started getting all smart," Eleanor says and I laugh.
"Yeah Niall really wanted to be Matt's twin," I say remembering the time Matt and Niall told me they were going to become twins when I started skipping years.
"There you go! All packed!" Dani says struggling to zip up my very full suitcase.
"Thanks guys, it really means a lot to me that you all stayed and helped. I think I'm just going to get some rest now if you don't mind?" I ask, trying not to rudely kick them out but I really want to be alone.
"Of course, we probably won't see you before you leave so have a safe flight," Eleanor says as they start to file out of my flat.
"Líadan come on, it's time to wake up, our flight leaves in three hours," Niall says gently nudging me awake.
"Okay Niall I'm coming, get out, I need to get dressed," I say with my face still in my pillow.
"Okay, I'll bring your suitcase out to my car. You better be dressed and have your carry-on packed by the tim I come back," Niall says before leaving with my bag.
I put on my fandom shirt and a pair of plain jeans, my family really shouldn't expect anything more of me when I come home.
In my carry-on I put my toiletries, my laptop, two books, my wallet and a jumper.
"Líadan! Come on, we'll eat breakfast at the airport," Niall says grabbing my carry-on from me and leading me down the stairs.
"I'll have a medium hot chocolate and a blueberry scone," I say to the barista.
"I'll have the same," Niall says handing him a was of cash.
"Niall you don't need to pay for me. I know you have a lot of money and all but I do too. I'm pretty successful writer, remember?" I say taking my wallet out of my carry-on.
"I want to. I like the fact that it annoys you when I pay for you, that's half the reason I do it," Niall says winking at me. I wonder what the other half is?
"Are you excited to see your family?" I ask Niall as we sit down.
"Yeah but I'm more excited to see yours. I get to see my family when I'm on break but I haven't seem Matt since he started Uni," Niall says taking a sip of his hot chocolate.
"Why didn't you get coffee or tea? You never get hot chocolate?" I ask realising he ordered the same as me.
"I just felt like having hot chocolate. I still don't understand how you can hate both coffee and tea," he says and I shrug.
"They're gross!" I say cringing.
"Finish your muffin, we have an hour before our flight takes off," Niall says before shoving the remainder of my muffin into his mouth.
"Hey! You just told me to finish it and now you're eating it!" I say punching him playfully.
"You took too long!" He says his mouth still full of muffin.
"You didn't even give me a chance," I laugh.
"Well it's too late now! C'mon let's go!" Niall says pulling me away from the table.
"Our gate's this way Niall but nice try," I say turning him in the direction of our gate.
"So what are we going to do for an hour?" Niall asks as we sit down at our gate.
"I don't know. I should probably call Harry," I say getting up and taking out my phone.
"I don't know. I should probably call Harry," Líadan says. Right when I thought things were going to be like old times.
I've decided that I need to break up with Rose. She's a great person but we've been drifting apart and it's not fair to her that I have feelings for my best friend.
I don't know why she's dating Harry. We have so much history yet she chose him.
I guess I can't really say she chose him, I never told her my feelings and I started dating Rose before she started dating Harry.
Harry's one of my best mates though, he knows that I have feelings for her. I guess he could've figured that my feelings were gone since I got a girlfriend but he still could've at least asked.
And now she has to go and fucking call him.
She even chose him over me to comfort her when her dad died! She spent time with me first but then she went to him.
She sent him nude pictures and I had to see them.
This isn't fair. I'm constantly told that I'm Niall Horan, I can have any girl I want but I can't.
The one girl I want I will never have. I may even end up best man at her wedding.
I don't want to fucking picture them getting married but I can't help it.
"Hey, sorry about that. Harry just wanted me to call him when we got here," Líadan says sitting down beside me.
"It's fine. He's your boyfriend. I would want to know too," I say patting her knee.
"Matt texted me," she says changing the subject.
"Oh yeah? What'd he say?"
"He said he's bored out of his mind and he can't wait for us to get there. His doctor said his lung should be better in a few days so he'll be fine to come back with us. I can't wait for him to live with me!" She says cheerfully. Her smile is beautiful.
"I'm excited to see him too."
"Flight 107 to Mullingar Ireland. Now
boarding," a voice on the intercom says.
"That's us! Come on!" Líadan says pulling me up.
"Our seats are over here," I lead Líadan to our seats once we're on the plane.
"I can't wait to be home," she says as we sit down.
