I awake to rain pelting against my window, setting the mood for the miserable day that was yet to come. It was the first day of school after summer vacation, and I was dreading the events that would unfold. I hated school so much. But, it was not for the obvious reasons like bad teachers, or too much homework. It was for the fact that I was the school geek, and nobody liked me.
I sat in bed for another 15 minutes not wanting to move, and not motivated to. Finally, I convinced myself to get ready. I took a shower, and put my hair into a neat, perfect bun. Then I got dressed in my knee high socks, my blue and white plaid kilt, my white button up blouse, my navy blue blazer, and my black uniform shoes. I put my thick- lensed glasses on and I went down stairs.
I walked into my mom cooking me breakfast on the stove. Her perfect blond ringlets flowing over her shoulders, and her bright blue eyes were passively looking out the window. She turned around suddenly and smiled lovingly " Hello darling, How was your sleep? Did the rain wake you?"
I smiled at her kindly. After all, she was the only person that I could trust. "Yes mom, the storm wake me up. I also had a terrible night sleep. I was tossing and turning all night thinking about what will happen to me next. I'm constantly being pushed into lockers, and spit on. I get rude comments thrown at me every day, and I have no friends. I'm just worried that this time I might get seriously hurt."
My Mom slowly walked towards me and put her arm around me. She looked at me with a half smirk. " I know that things will be different this year for you, I can feel it." She looked me in the eyes and said " Just promise me that whatever happens, you will never become like them and torment an innocent child like yourself." I nodded my head at her. She let me go and I ate my breakfast.
After breakfast, I grabbed the car keys from the bowl decoration by the door and said bye to my mom. The drive to the school that morning was fairly long, so it gave me enough time to think over my entrance plan. I had history first thing in the morning so I decide to go through the Merichi doors. I pulled into the parking lot at the back of the school, and organized all of my books before stepping out of the car. When I finally decided to open the door to my car it started to downpour, so I made a mad dash towards the school.
As soon as I walked through the Merichi doors, my worst enemy was waiting there. Her name was Bailie St Clair, the peppy head cheer leader at my school, and my worst Nightmare. She immediately noticed me and started strutting towards me. She laughed at me and said, " Hey loser, Did you enjoy your pathetic summer."
I looked at her confused, and replied, " Yes, I did. It was really relaxing getting away from you, and all of your posy."
She gave me a half smirk and I knew that, that was when everything would change. She slithered close to my ear and whispered, " Good, because your going to need that relaxation to make it through the hell we're going to put you through this year." All of a sudden she pushed me into a locker and her best friend Taylor poured her warm sticky hot chocolate over my head.
I watched them walk away laughing and I slowly got out of the locker that they had pushed me in. My uniform had been ruined and stained brown from the chocolate. My hair was sticky and filled with whipped cream. My glasses were the worst though because I couldn't see a thing. All I could see were shadows and blobs. I turned my head pleading for people to help me. Finally, someone took me by the arm and dragged me into the bathroom. I thanked the person about one hundred times for helping me. But, I still couldn't see who it was. All I could make out was that it was a boy from the blurry figure that my eyes could detect.
He suddenly spoke in a familiar voice that sounded like some one I heard get interviewed on one of my mom's favorite talk shows. He said, " What was that all about love? Are you okay?"
I smiled up at him and replied as he started to rinse my hair in the fountain. " I'm fine, it happens all the time, and I can't do anything about it. Everyone at this school is just really mean and they don't take the time to know me for me. They just judge me based on my appearance, and laugh at me when I get hurt."
He took my glasses from me and cleaned them under the sink then he gave them back to me. I put them on my face and looked at him. He was a very handsome boy, about my age with curly brown hair and bright green eyes. He started to speak," Do you have any friends?" I shook my head to tell him "no". He genuinely smiled done at me and said, " Well now you do. What's your name?"
I looked at him shyly and replied, "My names Julia what's yours?"
He laughed at my shyness and said, " You don't have to be shy Julia I'm a person like you. I used to always be called out for being different, but know everything is different." Everything was silent for a minute. Then he said, " Oh yay, I'm Harry. Harry Styles, it is a pleasure to meet you." I blushed at his gentleman like behavior and looked at the ground.
That name sounded really familiar. My mind was in deep thought when the bell rang and Harry and I said good bye to each other. That was the last time I saw Harry that day, but in the back of my mind I had a reassuring feeling that made me feel safe. Even when I was pushed into lockers, spit balled, got my chair put out from under me, and called rude names, I still felt safe because I knew now that someone had my back.
That night I told my Mom about the eventful day that I had and about Harry, the wonderful stranger that helped me. That night was the first time in weeks that I wasn't worried about school, and the first night that I actually had gotten any sleep. I replayed the morning in my head. I dreamt' of Harry's soft hands running through my hair and his silky voice ringing through my ears. That was the first happy day of my life at school, but what I was really wondering was, how long would it really last?
