She blinked a few times before everything came into view. She was surrounded by her team, they were treating her wounds. She looked over to see that Domonic was holding her, keeping her up so another man could wrap her wounds. She gasped and fell out of his arms sending a wave of pain through her as she hit the ground.
“Damn it, Ryia, hold still,” Domonic grunted. The feelings between the two hunters were clear that they were meant to be and should be, but their commitment as hunters made it almost impossible to be together. They remained as friends.
“I-I’m sorry, what are you guys doing here?” She asked, wondering how they found her.
“Peter is a very skilled mage remember? He used tracking magic so we could find you,” Domonic said and Peter smiled as her from the mouth of the cave. Domonic waved a hand at the other boy who was about to cast a healing spell on her.
“Don’t, she can feel this pain for going on without us,” He said. The boy nodded and packed up his gear. Then the last member of their group entered. She was tall like Ryia and had jet black hair. She could pass for a princess in the face but the rest of her was scarred from a dragon not accepting her as a rider. Three slash marks covered her from her neck and into her body and slashes covered her legs.
“The area is clear, I don’t think the dragon will come back for a while, Ryia stabbed it with her poisoned sword,” The girl said.
“Thank you, Cleo. So it should be safe to head back to the castle,” Domonic told them. That’s when Ryia protested.
“We can’t go back!” She exclaimed.
“You are badly injured and we need to regroup and go out another time,” Domonic stated.
“I injured the most feared dragon ever, if we don’t go after it now. She will heal and attack us again at full strength,” Ryia protested. She didn’t know how badly she had injured the dragoness but she was too afraid to face the consequences of letting her go when she was so close.
“We have no idea where she is now and I already tried tracking her with the blood she left on the ground. Whoever she is with has a guarding spell on her that won’t allow me to find her,” Peter spoke up.
“There isn’t any way we can find her?” Ryia asked desperately. Peter shrugged and gave her a look to say ‘I’m sorry’.
“Enough, I’m the leader of this team and I’m saying it’s too dangerous to go after her. This was another dragons cave and we can’t take on two huge dragons at once, Ryia. We are going home,” Domonic shouted and then left the cave. Peter helped Ryia to her feet, and helped her walk with them back to their horses that waited for them outside. Ryia felt ashamed of herself for failing her team and her Queen. Part of her told her that it was okay, and the rest of the team was already forgiving her. As for the Queen, she wouldn't be so nice.
