Hey! Because I'm nearly at 200 reads (which is so amazing, thank you all!) I decided to write this chapter, cause I love you guys and I love writing this story:) So, enjoy!
To say I was upset was an understatment. I was so stressed out and didn't understand why this had to happen to me. My new friends were now crutches and a broken leg I had to manage with. I couldn't go to school for 2 weeks, just when exams are coming and I want to make it to a good college. Great timing, ay? I had forced Ryan to go to school, even though he wanted to stay home with me. But I needed somebody to write notes off from, right?!
I sat on the couch, some pointless program coming from the TV. Suddenly, my phone made a noise and I grabbed it.
Message from: Unknown number
Hey Lisa, I need you're help. I'm in trouble. Jake
My heart almost jumped out of my chest. Jake was a guy friend from ages ago, when I was in middle school. He had moved away and we lost contact. I have no idea how he got my number and why he needed my help.
What help do you need?
Seconds later, he replied.
Can you text me you're adress?
I hesitated, not knowing if I should give it to him or not.
Rose alley 18, Philadelphia.
I didn't even know what to think about all of this. But I did know one thing. Ryan wasn't going to be happy, if he found out. I just have to make him not find out.
Thanks. I'll be over soon.
The heavy knock on the door shook me from my thoughts and I grabbed my crutches, that laid beside me. I somehow limped my way to the door, and opened it. Jake stood there. The Jake I'd known for about 3 years and the Jake I used to always hang out with. He had changed, though. He was alot taller, but his hair was still the golden blond that it used to be. He was wearing a v-neck and some jeans, his hands shoved into his pockets.
''Hey.''He smiled, gazing into my eyes.
''Hey,''I smiled back, so many questions I tempted to ask him.
''What happened to you're leg?''He asked, eyeing my broken leg from tip to toe.
''Broke it while playing soccer,''I sighed.
He waited for me to say something, obviously that he could come inside. Where were my manners?!
''Come in,''I invited him, and he walked past me, I could smell his cologne.
We sat on the couch, and I waited for him to speak.
''So, the reason I came here is that I need you're help,''He talked, his voice raw and sharp.
''What kind of help?''I questioned.
''You see, I'm in trouble. A few days ago at a party, I went mental with a guy that wanted to date my sister. My little sister. I punched him sensless,''He talked and I could feel my insides curling up. I didn't know that he was capable of something like that.
''So I ran, and the police is still looking for me. They'll probably put me to jail, cause I've been in trouble before, but they said if I ever did anything again, they'd lock me up.''He spoke, shivers coming down my spine for the words he was shooting.
I gestured him to go on.
''I need money. I can't go to my parents, or my sister for that matter. She's dead angry at me, and I don't blame her. I need to get away before the cops find me, and then I'd be dead. Probably my parents would ground me forever and take everything away from me. You have to help me, please.''He almost begged, and I was so confused I felt my brain going dizzy.
I was supposed to give money to the friend that had always helped me, when I had panic attacks, when I needed something, he was always there. But he was a criminal. Well, sort of. But he had helped me so much and it just seemed wrong to turn him down. Though I knew , inside, that I shouldn't do this.
''How much?''I asked.
''100,''He said, looking at the table that stood in between us. A small gasp escaped my lips. I only had about 500 saved.
''Okay,''I agreed and searched for my wallet. I saw it on the counter and slowly went and picked it up. I slid a 100 dollar bill from the wallet and handed it to him.
''Thank you. Thank you so much.''He thanked me and even gave me a very awkward hug.
He shot me a smile before walking out. I still couldn't stop the guilt of having to lie to Ryan about what had happened, but I knew it was for the best.
I knocked on the front door and opened it, not wanting Lisa to get up and open it for me, when I had two working legs and arms. I saw she was sitting on the couch, her crutches beside her.
''Hey.''I smiled at her and walked towards her, and tasted her lips.
''How was you're day?''I asked, sitting beside her.
''It was...okay,''She talked, looking at the plazma TV her aunt had bought a few months ago.
''What did you do?''I questioned her, eyeing every inch of her, not finding a single flaw.
''Nothing much, how was school?''She quickly changed the subject and I sensed she didn't really want to talk about what she had been doing. Fair enough for me. Whatever she wants.
''Boring, I missed you.''I spoke and she looked at her hands, I saw a piece of nervousness in her being. Had I done something?
''Look, I'm really tired,''She then spoke, as an excuse to do something I didn't know. Maybe I didn't have to know. I wanted to know. Fuck.
''I'll go, see you tomorrow?''I asked, standing up.
''Yeah,''She said and I kissed her, she didn't kiss back.
''I love you,''I said and walked to the door. She smiled at me, but I didn't get a ''I love you too,'' back. Something was going on.
