After a few months in the house, killing seemed natural. Like it was nothing, but their food source was dwindling. The girl in the car was their best video yet, they watched it over and over again.
“Do something with her.” The voice on the camera said. Rylee pushed the woman up against the back door, and held her arm on the woman’s throat. She broke the plastic hanger that the red dress was on, and stabbed her in the face with it. Right through the cheek bone. “I can’t see a thing. We’ll just have to watch the tape later, and hope that it caught something.” The voice said. Rylee took the long piece of plastic, and stabbed the woman in the chest, right through her left lung. She gasped for breath, not being able to get any air. There was tears streaming down her face. Rylee stabbed her once more in the abdomen, and the woman let out a loud sigh. Rylee opened the car door and got out.. “I look fucking ridiculous!”
“We have to figure out something for food. We can’t keep eating out of the garbage; especially Nico.” Sean said.
“Well what do you suggest we do? Because if we start stealing food, we’ll get in trouble and everyone will have their eyes on us. We don’t need that.” Rylee flared. She got up, and headed to the other room. “Someone help me dig a hole for this body!” she yelled.
“C’mon, Nico, let’s go take a nap.” Sean said bitterly, also getting up, and carrying the little 4 year old upstairs.
Ethan got up and grabbed the shovel by the back door, and they walked out to the yard. Ethan started digging, and ran into a problem—a body was in the way. He spent the next hour trying to find a spot where there wasn’t already a body, or group of bodies. This place was like a graveyard. They had nowhere to put the body, and they’re running into more and more problems, and losing more and more resources everyday they stay in the house. “Maybe we can ditch him somewhere else..?” Ethan said.
“How are we going to dump the body somewhere else, when we’re weak because we have eaten nothing but garbage for the last week!?” Rylee yelled at him.
“We could always—“ Ethan started, looking at the body. Rylee was trying to figure out what he was hinting at, and her eyes widened when she figured it out, “I know you’re not thinking about what I think you’re thinking about…”
“Well… We need food, what else are we—“
“No! I thought you of all people would be against that! You’re the nicest one in the group, aside from the kid, and you’re seriously suggesting this?” Rylee interrupted.
“We are going to starve, and die if we don’t do something! Wake up! We murder people on a daily basis, and you’re drawing the line when our lives depend on it?” Rylee was speechless. Ethan had never stood up to her before, and now that he has, she didn’t know how to respond…
"Damien, let go of me!" Kiara demanded, twisting her body into unnatural positions in an attempt to break free. "I'm gonna kick your ass! Don't doubt me!"
Raven and Damien turned to look at each other and laughed hysterically at Kiara's threat. Grabbing the lime green duct tape that was placed on a shelf, Raven approached Kiara.
"Hey Kiara," Raven smirked, kneeling down and taping Kiara's wrists together as Damien held her still.
"Eat shit and die, bitch!" Kiara hissed as she tried to pull herself away from Damien. She was unsuccessful.
Raven's face dropped at Kiara's words and turned to an expression of hate. "You don't even dare talk to me like that! Do you understand?!" She growled darkly as she kicked Kiara repeatedly in the stomach, forcing a bit of bile to make its way up.
Seeing that Raven was occupied with Kiara, Damien dropped the blonde, and left her to Raven's mercy; he felt that Jordin required attention. The boy was lying helplessly on the floor, cowering in both pain and fear, hoping that his life would soon be ended. After enduring days of torment from Raven and Damien, as well as seeing his best friend pass, he was ready to die. This feeling seemed to be common among Damien and Raven's victims.
Damien picked up Jordin' body and carried him off to another corner of the basement; there was no way Damien would let his victim get away after an escape attempt like that.
Meanwhile, Raven was trying to think of a suitable penance for Kiara.
"Hey Damien, what should I do with Kiara?" Raven called over.
"I dunno. Maybe we should just let her go?" Damien responded apathetically as he began taping Jordin to a pipe.
Raven's face fell; it was as if her bubble had been burst. "What…?"
"Why would we kill her? Where else are we going to get a camera bitch?"
"Uh… Well, she's been a disobedient little bitch, to start."
Damien’s voice remained unchanged. He was obviously more wrapped up in what he was doing with the sobbing victim than the conversation. "Well you kicked her in the stomach hard enough to make her vomit. What else really needs to be done without killing her?"
"I don't know…" Raven mumbled, not having an answer for Damien's question, and trying to think of why he would be defending Kiara.
"Just let her go."
That's when it hit her.
"Why are you defending her? Are you sleeping with her or something?" Raven yelled accusingly with a defensive tone.
"What the hell are you talking about, Raven? No, I'm not!"
In that moment, Raven didn't care to think about Damien's justifications. She thought that she was right, and that was all that mattered,
"You are such an asshole!" She retorted with genuine frustration visible.
"What the hell did I do?"
Without answering, Raven sighed heavily and exited. "I hate you!" She shouted immaturely through the door.
"Feelings' mutual, bitch." Damien grumbled under his breath, stepping toward Kiara. "Jesus Christ…" Damien sat down next to the girl and pulled a hunting knife out of his pocket, "Don't let it happen again. Next time, she'll kill you, and I won't stop her."
Damien didn't feel sympathy for Kiara. He wanted to keep her alive for the same reason he kept Raven alive that first night when they met. He could easily use him 'saving her life' as a reason to get Kiara to sleep with him, and in his experience, it was an effective tactic.
Rylee realized, that she didn’t want a fight. This is the only family she’s ever had, and she didn’t want to let that go, so how could she convince him that it was a bad idea? Hell… Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea; she was just not sure she wanted to be that bold yet. The thought of it kind of made her stomach turn, but what else were they going to do for food?
“Alright, fine. But we don’t tell Sean or Nico about this, do you hear me?” Rylee wanted to hide it from them for as long as possible. Ethan agreed and they snuck the body back into the house, and they prepared dinner while everyone was asleep. When they awoke, they could smell the food downstairs and followed their noses to what they had hoped would be something hot and tasty. Boy, were they in for a surprise.
