1. She

She

She stares back at me,

Lively, dead fly-away hair,

Ice-blue, blank eyes,

Cobwebs over the crystal ball,

Un-seen.

A crumpled paper mask,

Where there should be porcelain skin,

I don't know what hair colour,

Or stature, for she is ancient,

Alone.

The puckered mouth,

Pale, distorted in a frown,

The non-existent eyebrows furrowed,

A pitiful sight, frail,

Forgotten.

Hunched over a walking cane,

Drab, musty clothing,

Scruffy soft slippers,

Bones weak, thin skin, ever cold,

Broken.

But I know her, I should,

This wizened wisp of a woman,

Identical room, cat, and painting,

I know her... She is-

Me.
