I have been noticing a lot of changes to myself lately. I hope Nat doesn't notice, I haven't told her everything about my past. First of all I travelled most of my life because like many before me need to go everywhere for training. I am a vampire hunter, well an apprentice vampire hunter. Vampire hunters are born with extra skills that mundanes don't have like superhuman strength for example. I may not look strong but looks are very deceiving. I'm faster than anyone who isn't supernatural, and more skilled. I try and hide my abilities to protect myself, if I was found out me and my family could be in great danger.
I went into the school grounds, hoping that I'd be able to bump into Nat before class. She wasn't there and I'd been told that she had called in sick today. Odd, last night she seemed her normal self and no symptoms of getting sick either. I flicked her a text, "R u alright? Heard u are sick." A new message flashed on my screen a moment later. "Yeah, just a bit under the weather." I replied with "Can I come by urs after school? I'll bring soup ;)"
"Not a good idea, should b back in a few days." My phone buzzed. Something must be wrong normally she would jump at the opportunity for me coming over to her place with soup. Maybe I should call her.
Before I could press dial, the bell rang. Ah, I had to go to class I'll have to call her at lunch then.
My first class is Science with Mrs Todd, just great she hates my guts but at least I did the homework. The only thing worse than having Mrs Todd as a teacher, is having Tyler Dax in your class. He sits at the back and throws paper at me as well as yells out snarky comments. Honestly it is really annoying when you get called a slut and told to 'show me some ass baby.' I have only gone on a date with one guy for their information. I know I am beautiful; I have half of the boys at this school wrapped around my little finger.
Mrs Todd was ranting on about how to balance chemical equations. I bored out of my mind so I just concentrated on the coffee mug on the front desk. 'Boom!'
The coffee mug shattered, flinging pieces across the room. The boys at the front had to duck to avoid getting hit, the shards hit the back wall and everyone was looking around confused by what had just happened. The coffee that was in the mug was now dripping down onto the floor at the teachers' feet. There was a tear in Mrs Todd's charcoal pencil skirt, a bit lucky if you ask me since it didn't pierce her skin.
The rest of the lesson we spent cleaning up the pieces. There was a lot of chatter going on by the end of the class. I got up to go to my next class, but Mrs Todd asked me to stay behind.
"Have I done something wrong, Miss?" I asked.
"Can you explain to me what happened in class?" She replied.
"Both sides of the equation have to be balanced and be completed by having all atoms that are on one side of the equation on the other as well." I replied. I am not the best at explaining all the time but most people get where I'm coming from.
"Good to see that you were paying attention this lesson. You may go." She looked at me like she knew something that I should know about. Then face turned back into the unemotional teaching face she always seemed to have on.
I wish I was able to go to school but my parents didn't want to risk it. The full moon is in three days. In these three days according to my parents, my werewolf abilities will start to kick in. On the third day it will be my birthday, the 29th of February. My senses have heightened especially my hearing and sight. Except I do have a craving rare steak. It's probably the wolf talking.
My brother started changing before me, he is about a year younger than me. His wolf is black with dark brown patches and his yellow eyes are a lot bigger than usual. My mum's wolf is a chestnut colour with a white patch on her nose. I haven't seen dad's wolf though. I guess I'll see it when I finally change.
Ring, ring. It's Sam, I can't pick it up. I leave the phone until it stops ringing. I turn it off, just as she starts to call me again. I know she will not stop until she gets an answer. The phone downstairs rang and mum picked it up. I listened in with my supernatural hearing.
"Hello, Katy speaking. How can I help?"
"Hey, Mrs Thymari. Can I talk to Nat, please?"
"She can't she is very unwell at the moment."
"Can I come over and see her then."
"She isn't up to it today. Sorry Sam you are going to have to wait until she gets better."
"Is she alright?"
"Yes, she is going to be fine. I'm going to-" there was pain in my bones and it felt like they were breaking and my flesh was being stretched to several different tearing points. I screamed out in agony. Mum hung up and came running up the stairs and into my bedroom.
"Look at me," she commanded. "This is why we don't want you going to school, they would send you to hospital and that would ruin the family secret."
My body was shifting but it could only half transition without the moon. As soon as I had four legs I changed back, it was so strange since I didn't grow any fur. I was still looking at mum as I changed back. I saw that my clothes were ripped from changing.
"It doesn't look like this is going to be an easy two days," Mum said.
