It was then that I looked at the body properly, it was a gruesome sight. The same thing that had happened to my father had happened to this person.’ The skin melted like wax and bones scorched. The only difference was that this time, above the body, there was something written in blood on the wall- although whose blood exactly wasn’t clear. ‘I told you I would have revenge.’ I winced looking at it for a second longer. Then it hit me, everything made sense. The man in the vision. The death of this person. The taking of Belouise. It was all linked. It was Edward, the man my father had arranged my marriage to. It all made sense. He was thirty years older than me and had been married before. His wife had been drowned, the circumstances unknown had been unknown… until now. That’s why it had taken Belouise, I was marrying him- and it wanted revenge on us all. Oh god. Suddenly another scream pierced the air around us. Xander and I shared a look, immediately knowing what had happened. Slowly and begrudgingly we walked out of the alley.
“Stop her!” A man shouted pointing up the road. Another scream. This was getting out of hand. Thoughts ran through my head quickly as I tried to figure out what to do. How could we stop her? It was my fault; all of this. If I hadn’t agreed to this arranged marriage Belouise wouldn’t be in trouble. I needed to stop her. She was my responsibility, always had been. So it was my problem to stop this before it got any worse.
“Which direction did she go in?” I asked, pulling on the shouting man’s arm.
“Towards the castle,” he replied not really looking at me, and then, as I was walking away, he did, “aren’t you her sister? It’s the murderer’s sister!” I sped up, hurrying away as fast as possible. I was halted as someone grabbed at my arm, pulling me to a halt. I turned around, about to shout at them to let me go, when I realised it was Xander.
“What do you think you are doing?” He said sternly, realising his grip on my arm.
“To stop Belouise.” I snapped turning away.
“No. No way.” He said from behind me.
“Why not?” I said but I was already gone. I didn’t even hear him say ‘because I love you and I don’t want to lose you’.
A/N: sorry really short chapter. I'll post a long one next week to make up for it
