Keeping My Distance

Lalvia Monroe is a girl that has been badly bullied by some people at school, she self-harms and cry's her self to sleep every night. She has also, been getting weird dreams and visions by her grandmother that has passed away five years ago. She has been getting warnings by her grandmother that she needs to leave but, when a new man enters her life… she's not so sure she wants to leave.

15. Scary scary Man

I hopped in my car and I just realized I don't know where Conner lives. I picked up my phone and dialed his number.

"Lalvia?" my breath hitched in my throat from the sound of his voice. "This is not the right time." I heard muffled sounds in the background.

"I just need to find you. Where are you?"

"No. Lalvia, don't try to find me. Stay home with your dad. You're safe there. You're safer without me."

"Where are you, Conner?" I repeated.

"Lalvia, I'm telling you don't look for me. You'll only get in more danger."

      "What's going on?" I asked.

He hung up as I glanced at my phone in disbelief before focusing back on the road.

I ran out of gas and unfortunately my phone went dead so I am standing in the middle of no where. "Could this day get any worse?" I muttered to myself.

"You need help, beautiful?" someone whispered down my neck making me jump. I turned my head to glance at him but, he wrapped one arm around my legs and the other around my waist. "You're coming with me."

"Let me go!" I screamed. Tears were streaming down my face. Whats going on? Who is this guy? I can't believe I'm getting kidnapped! What if this is what Conner meant when he didn't want me to find him.

"Conner, here she is." I smiled at his name.

"Conner," I muttered smiling. I laughed a little bit still keeping my eyes closed.

"What did you do to her?"

    "She's a sleep. I didn't do anything."

He chuckled. "Thats unlike you Huntley."

"I really didn't do anything Conner. We need to tell the boss I found her. Not you, and not Keenly. Me! I found her! I need some credit around here."

The man chuckled again. "Huntley, you're only sixteen you'll get credit soon. You shouldn't even be in this position in begin with."

I finally fluttered my eyes open to see that the man was Conner. I blinked the tears away and watched him. "What does the boss want with her?" Asked Huntley.

Conner was with them? He was one of the bad guys? He went against me? I felt my heart being tore in pieces. "I don't know," He said sighing. I watched him casually set his coffee cup on the counter. "But, I do know your my buddy and you're only sixteen. You could runaway right now and start an normal teenage life and I can tell Daniel that your dead or something." He said walking closer to Huntley until they were face to face. Huntley glanced down like he was going over what Conner said. Conner winked at him, "Your choice."

A man maybe around his thirties walked in with an wide grin. "You found her?"

I grimace at the sight. I don't know who that man is or why he wants me.

Two men followed him in with guns thrown over there shoulder. Bodyguards, I thought.

After at least two seconds past by an couple more walked in. Now there's like five bodyguards, an scary Boss, a sixteen year old boy, and Conner.

"Where's Keenly?" the Boss asked. No one answered. "I repeat, where is Keenly?!"

"I'm here. Dad," An young guy walked in around Conner's age. He was handsome with Blonde hair and blue eyes but, he couldn't beat Conner's look, not even by a little bit. He rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. He yawned like he wasn't even in a room with scary people. He looked so tired and out of place like he didn't belong there. He looked like he should be off to college to get some type of doctor degree.

His Dad just rolled his eyes and waved it off. He focused his eyes on me and smiled. "She's awake," he announced.

   "Wh-whats going on?" I asked.

"I knew your Mom, Lalvia and you didn't." He stated.

"What do you mean I know plenty about my Mom. I was just twelve when she died a-and my little brother," I glanced over at Conner to see him raising an eyebrow.

"Your Mom worked with us and made a deal with me. If she couldn't kill one of the guys I assigned her to kill I have to kill you at the age of seventeen. See, Lalvia the way I make this job work is if they can't do something for me then I kill someone they love."

"Why should it matter now? She's dead! You creep!" I spit the words out like it was poison.

He slapped me. My hair fell in my face and I knew he left an red mark.

"Conner, I want you to kill her," he ordered.

"Yes sir, Daniel." Daniel gave Conner an cold look. "I mean Boss."

Conner came closer to me and held the gun up to my head with fear and concern in his eyes. I sure hope that he is more concern then he is afraid. I stared up in his eyes with tears pouring down my face. "Con-Conner please do-don't kill me." I sobbed. "Don't Conner please!" I pleaded. He shoved the gun closer to my head. I covered my face with my hands. "And to think I loved you." I muttered. I glanced back up and his lips quivered.

Keenly snickered and Conner turned his gun around to only shoot towards Keenly's foot. Conner wrapped his arm around me and pointed the gun to anyone he laid eyes on. He shot towards Daniel and the body guards and then he laid his eyes on Huntley. Huntley was holding an gun pointed towards Conner. "I'm not going to shoot you Huntley, but, you're going to make an huge mistake if you stay here. I care about you, bro."

Conner lead me out of the room and cornered me against the wall. "Please don't regret loving me." he brought his lips to mine and kissed me softly.
