12. Protection

I stretched fluttering in my eyes open. I looked around to notice I was in my room.

"Conner?" I asked, smiling. I knew I was falling for Conner and that's the sad part.

Conner walked in and leaned against the door frame. "How was your sleep?" he asked with a sleepish grin.

      "How's Walter?" I asked.

"He's not doing to good. Do you want to see him?"

                                         Conner's POV.

Me and Lalvia sat down on the chairs beside his bed. "You look terrible," I stated.

Lalvia punched me on the shoulder and I winced in pain. "Be nice, Conner."

    Walter chuckled. "Lalvia," he whispered.

She stood up to give him a hug and whispered a soft 'I love you, Walter.'

I sighed face palming. I'm not jealous, ok I might be a little jealous, I mean I kissed her and she pushed me away and even, though Walter killed someone, she won't push him away.

"Can I have a word with Conner?" he asked nodding in my direction. She nodded standing up and walking out of the room. Walter watched Lalvia walk away and then turned to me. "I need you to protect Lalvia. She's in trouble."

"I practically already saved her. If it wasn't for me shooting you, you could've done anything," I said glaring at him.

"I'm not the victim here, Conner," he turned over and gave me a hard glare.

"Why did you kidnap her dad?"

"I needed him to help me with something, but…"

"You also, want something from me," I guessed.

"It doesn't matter now. The only thing that matters is Lalvia."

    "You love her don't you?"

He didn't speak for about five seconds. "I'm going to have to ask you the same question, mate. I lost a lot of blood, Conner. I'm not going to make it and I have heard she was in trouble."

     "I will protect her."

                                         (40 Minutes Later)

                                         Still Conner's POV.

I walked out of the hospital like I just seen a ghost. I walked past Lalvia with my hands covering my tear struck face. I killed him. I killed him, I thought. I turned over the garbage can beside me and sighed in frustration.

I turned around and saw Lalvia with a confused expression. "He's gone," I muttered. "He's gone," I repeated.

Lalvia started crying and gasped as she held her hand over her mouth. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her. She tried to get out of my grip which only caused her to lose her balance. I tried one more time and she finally wrapped her tiny arms around me.
