Keeping My Distance

Lalvia Monroe is a girl that has been badly bullied by some people at school, she self-harms and cry's her self to sleep every night. She has also, been getting weird dreams and visions by her grandmother that has passed away five years ago. She has been getting warnings by her grandmother that she needs to leave but, when a new man enters her life… she's not so sure she wants to leave.

14. Dad?

"We both know thats not true," he stated.

    "Leave," I whispered.

I knew from the moment I heard a car pull up it was my dad. Conner got up and walked to the door. I felt like my heart just broke into little pieces and I'm still wondering why--Do I like him? Do I love him after everything he has done for me and has done to me?

Conner turned a little ways so he was facing me. "Lalvia," he whispered like he was meaning to say something.

    "Just leave," I chocked.

He gave me an pleading look but, finally walked out closing the door behind him. I crouched down and did the one thing I knew how to do best and cried.

My dad walked in after moments later. "I guess I have no one to help me fix the roof now." He glanced over at me and his expression turned from anger to concern. "Whats wrong?"

He walked over and surprisingly wrapped his arms around me. It's weird for my dad to comfort me. Usually he's really awkward in these situations but, I never really cried in front of him before. "I don't know Dad. I'm confused. I'm not supposed to be crying."

"You know I didn't teach you to give up."

He handed me his keys. "Go get that boy," he says. I looked at him with my mouth slightly open. Isn't today full of surprises.

"You heard me," he rolled his eyes. "Go get him before I change my mind."
