I stumbled through the halls of Lake Side High School to my locker as girls and boys left to right nudged me as though I was a ping-pong ball being swatted at as though nothing had even hit them.
"Um excuse me?" one of the girls spoke up and gave me a nasty irritated look which gave me the sign to just keep walking. I came to my locker and uneasily took out my Biology book and my notebook that held my story that I was currently writing.
"You ok?" I heard a voice from the side of my locker peep out and I turned to see my one and only friend, Amber.
"Yea..." I lied to myself and somewhat slammed my locker door.
"What happened?" she wondered as we started to walk to Biology.
"I don't know, sometimes I just wish we could be the better side of the movie.. you know?" I tried to explain, but I knew she wouldn't get it. Amber always just took what came to her so easily but I took it as an insult a cruel way to keep life going just being treated as garbage and no one even cares.
"Austen I just think maybe we were put on the wrong side of the movie for a reason. Maybe you should try to except that." she dropped me off at Biology leaving me wondering what life might be like if it wasn't so demanding and heart wrenching. If you would have a boyfriend or just have the world love you for once.
"Uff!' I was thrown down with a skid across the tile floor now by books sliding in front of me.
"I am so sorry!" I was invited by a face and a hand to help me my way up. He was gorgeous, perfect, and new. I tumbled my hands into his and scrambled to get back to my feet. "I was talking to my shadow," he made a gesture to a Kyle one of the popular boys who was now flirting with Courtney.
"It's ok, really." I blush and grin slightly.
"I'm Jase by the way." he remarked and herded my books into a pile and I took them now smiling completely. I tucked one side of my long blonde curled hair behind me ear now showing off my face.
"Austen," I simply replied.
"Nice meeting you." he smiled and took a seat across from Kyle as I ,like every class, took a seat in the very back not wanting anyone to know of my current existence and doodled my story:
Ty took a jerk to the face as he held back Miranda
not letting her be touched by Luke.
"Just leave her alone!" Tie managed to say before anoth-
"Doodling Miss Tyler?" I was interrupted my train of thought as Mr. Berry slung his ruler onto m notebook breaking my pencil.
"S-sorry sir," I stutter now redder then I had ever been.
"Miss Ty-" Ring Ring Ring! Mr. Berry was interrupted by a phone call coming from the office. "Yes?" Mr. Berry spoke aloud moving towards the phone.
A lady spoke back to him with a gruff voice from the static that we now heard instead, "I need to see Austen Tyler. Unfortunately, we have some unpleasant news and she's being dismissed for the rest of the week if desired."
"I'm sorry Miss Smith but can't you just tell her what it is and let her decide right now? I'm in the middle of an important lesson..." he argues rolling his eyes looking to me.
"Well...." she fades off. "Her mother's dead."
