12. Chapter Twelve

*Just in advance sorry for the short length of this chapter! Chapter Twelve Sitting up made my head spin. I had to get out of there. Only later did I wonder who changed me into that paper gown. It's not like I was wearing underwear under that dress. I swung my legs out from under the sheets and over the edge of the bed. It took all of my energy to just sit up. My legs were achy and my arms wobbled as they attempted to hold me upright. I hadn't felt this terrible since I fell out of my old treehouse when I was five. That was fun. I was in an arm and leg cast for at least a month. I think this might have been worse. Like every limb had been beaten with a baseball bat. As my eyes adjust to the light, I saw that my arms were wrapped in white gauze. Black and blue marks like the stains of blueberries came into view, covering my forearms, peeking out from beneath the bandages. Ouch. What happened? I searched my mind for the memories, but I couldn't really remember anything else and it was starting to scare me. More questions began to pop into my mind. How long was I out? How did I get there? Was my birthday party a good one? And the most pressing question of them all, what happened to my new heels and dress? I needed to find someone, anyone, who could tell me what the hell was going on. I tried the door, but it was locked from the outside. It was a struggle trying to standing and go to the door with my aching limbs. At first I forgot the IV was in me and it sent a shot of pain up my arm as I dragged the little IV bag and its stand along with me by the thin tube that was attached to my arm. "Oh my God!" I said out loud as I discovered I had a broken nail. My perfect pink manicure was ruined! This day was beginning to look like the worst day ever. Looking at my nails I could see the new nail growing in at the line of my cuticles already. Didn't I just have them done? I really need to pee. I thought suddenly. I waddled my way to the small bathroom, careful not to mistakenly tug the IV cart by my arm again. I couldn't find the lightswitch so it stayed dark. The light would most likely hurt my eyes anyway. I went to pull down my pants and realizes that I was only in underwear, and underwear that was not mine. I blushed even though no one else was around. I mean, you'd be wondering who had the pleasure of changing your undies too. After I washed my hands I gripped both sides of the sink and stared down into the basin. I splashed my face with cool water and reached for a towel only to find the lightswitch. Harsh light illuminated the tiny room. I looked into the mirror. The words slipped from my mouth, whisper soft, an instinctive reaction. "Ohmygod." Then I screamed.
