The single soul is not complete;
Its counterpart it must meet
For life to be truly sweet;
Alone we live as in defeat.
And yet such love is truly rare;
We stumble 'bout in vain despair;
The knowledge that no one cares
Confounds our faith that life is fair.
Our fantasies subvert our reason;
Our selves collude in our own treason;
Our hearts betrayed endure new lesions,
Our certainties lose their cohesion.
How surprised was I as I've endured
That faith in love can be restored;
My counterpart walked through my door
Bearing gifts of love's sweet cure.
