At what age did you start writing?
That'd be about three years ago. I started getting serious about my ambition to be an author about then.
What inspires you to start writing?
There are so many books I enjoy I just think it would be fantastic to give people the joy reading gives me. The books I read mainly inspire me. Writing is fantastic because you can let all of your ideas flow onto the page (or rather screen).
Which one of your works are you most proud of?
Well, I am quite proud of my Divergent Fanfiction, I am Amity. It won me tickets to the European premiere of Divergent, which was spectacular, so I think if I had to be proud of any, it would be that one. Also, I have been attempting at original fictions for some time now, but at Chapter Two each one is deleted because of obstinate writer's block. But my new movella Summer Rose is here to stay, so hopefully, in the future, that'll be something to be proud of.
Which of your characters is your favourite, and why?
Again, I would have to say Summer. The comments on that have made it clear that Summer is a likable character. She has a strong will yet is slightly two-faced. She acts one way at school and another way by herself. I like her sarcastic wit and her independence and the fact she thinks about others before herself. I guess that's everything you'd expect from a main character, but I still like her most.
Where do you like to write?
Preferably sitting in my room, or on the sofa. I like to have a drink and a snack next to me.
When do you like to write?
I usually write in the evening. That way I've had all day to think of ideas and draft them and run the over before I produce the actual chapter. Even though I open Movellas in the morning, I usually do my social stuff then and then move on onto writing.
How do you beat writers block?
Mainly I draft tons of different ideas and then see what works. Sometimes I like to sleep on it, not over-think too much. Over-thinking is the main cause of stress.
Do you consider writing to be a serious career choice?
Yes. It has been my wanting for some time now, and I am quite set on it. Although it is not the most stable career, I am hoping I will be able to achieve my goal. Movellas has advanced my skills a LOT since I have signed up, and it has also given my encouragement that might be able to do it.
What advice would you give to a first time writer?
Don't over-think it. Don't force ideas out. Don't be cliche. These are a lot of don'ts but it has helped me a lot. Just write what you feel. Take on encouragement and constructive criticism, although don't listen to anyone with negative and hurtful feedback.
Who is your favourite author, and why?
I have two. J.K. Rowling is my first, because the Harry Potter series is so genius, and she is my main inspiration to become an author. I love the way she always goes for the unexpected, and the way how, while writing the first book, she knew what effect that would have on the last book.
My other is Cassandra Clare. The Mortal Instruments is amazing too and I think it was written magnificently.
What books would you recommend above all others?
The entire Harry Potter series
The Mortal Instruments series
The Fault In Our Stars
The Divergent series (THOUGH DO NOT READ ALLEGIANT It is an epic fail)
The Hunger Games series
The Percy Jackson / Heroes of Olympus series
The Gallagher Girls series
The Geek Girl series
That's about it!
Thanks for having me!
