20. To shut them out!
I did it! I put up signs on the window saying: "HELP, I'm kidnapped and locked up in the house!" I closed the curtains so that no one would see them from the inside. Then I hoped that workers would read the words. I calculated that I had been kidnapped for a month, roughly, and that my life was running away. I started obey the guys all the time, I was like a slave and my personality slowly began to fade away. I still hoped pool workers and that they would discover my window. I was hoping that they would call the police and I was hoping that I would get help to get home.
"Today we have a party!" Niall got out himself one morning. He came in to me with breakfast and looked generally happy. I sat up and watched him closely.
He giggled and put down the tray on the bed.
"The pool will be completed today and we'll fill it with water."
I sighed. If the pool was finished, it would mean that I wouldn't get help. I wished with all my heart that something would go wrong. I didn't want the workers to go home again.
"Okay?" I got out of me. Niall left me alone and I started to eat the food. I sat and thought about whether I would knock on the window? Perhaps no one in the house would hear me?
I sat in the window and peered out. I saw how the workers went back and forth to pick order of the yard. I saw how people came up with grass and laid new grass around the pool. It even came delivery with loungers and flowers. I dared not to knock, but finally I forced myself. I knocked quietly on the window and looked at everyone. No one responded. I knocked a little harder. One guy was startled and looked toward the house, but he didn't look towards my direction. I swallowed and was listening to the sounds in the house. No one was in the house and it led to my daring. I knocked hard on the window and directly startled some other people to look at the house. One of them saw me and he seemed surprised. He waved shyly and didn't see what I had written on the notes, which was stuck on the window. I waved with my arms and tried to lure him closer. The guy seemed still not to understand what I meant. Right as it was popped Liam up and he saw what happened. I quickly jumped down from the window and realized I was in trouble.
I worked quickly. I took my chair and put it down quickly in front of the door, under the handle, like they do in movies. Then the guys couldn't open the door. I even pulled up the desk so that the chair wouldn't move. It took a minute before I heard someone running up the stairs.
"Damn you fucking little whore!" I heard Liam scream and he reached the door. I saw how he tried to open the door, but he wasn't able to come in to me.
"Damn come on and open the door!" he shouted. I backed away and against the wall on the opposite from the door. I sat down on the floor with my knees under my chin. Then I leaned against the wall and calmed myself down. No one could come into the room and I was finally safe.
As soon as the workers had gone home, everyone gathered outside my door. I heard they were trying to get the door open, but none succeeded.
"Honey, you can't shut out us?" I heard Louis say. I didn't answer and I closed my eyes. I pressed my hands to his ears so that I wouldn't hear them. Far away I heard they tried again and again to open the door, and now I didn't have to hear their voices.
I don't know how long I sat leaning against the wall with my eyes closed and my hands over my ears. It was getting dark and I decided to removed the hands. I heard it was quiet in the house and I opened my eyes. I had succeeded! I had managed to keep them away, and part of me was happy. I was proud of myself and I saw that they hadn't been disturbed at the door.
