What is Justice?

Ashlan Shaw isn't your average diva. She fights superstars instead of divas. As the Intercontinental Champion, things couldn't be better for the 25 year old. As things begin changing in the WWE however, Ashlan may be forced to face an ugly truth; her worst enemy may be one of her closest friends.

8. Epic Return

As I sat in my locker room I tightened my wrist brace until I was sure it wouldn't come off during my match. It wasn't the same wrist brace I started off with; this one was much lighter and allowed me to actually move my wrist. After double checking to make sure it wasn't going to come off I checked out the rest of my outfit. My shirt had a few wrinkles in it so I smoothed them out, but then I thought I looked to perfect so I wrinkled it again. I then thought it looked kind of stupid and tried to smooth out the wrinkled again, but they refused to work with me. I groaned in frustration and gave up on it. I quickly pulled my black elbow pads up to my elbows and slipped on my DX Army arm bands on my right arm, since I couldn't put them on my left one. I then left because I was suppose to meet Shawn and Hunter by the Gorilla Position, but they weren't there yet so I just stretched for my upcoming match. I was scheduled to fight Chris Jericho, probably since DX was in a feud with Jerishow, but I didn't understand why they would be putting me up against a wrestler of such a high caliber. I mean seriously, I just came back from freaking wrist surgery! But, whatever, I guess Vickie Guerrero either has a lot of faith in me or she hates me...oh, she hates me. I guess helping The Rock with his Rock Concert when he made fun of Vickie did have consequences.

"Hey Shaw, we have to talk!"

I spun around and found none other than my opponent, Chris Jericho, coming towards me. "What's up Chris?"

"Change of plans, Vickie gave me the green light on my match against The Shield. I've got Sheamus and Ryback, but I need to know somebody's got my back in case one of those two gets out of line." He replied.

I rubbed the back of my neck as I felt my cheeks get hot. "Yeah...here's the thing. I'm friends with The Shield and I don't want to jeopardize our friendship. I'm real sorry but I don't think I can help you."

"Oh that's cool I guess." He said with an expressionless face.

"So what, you're not going to do anything?" I asked suspiciously.

"Oh no, I'm gonna take you out." Before I could act, let alone realize what he said, Chris was mercilessly beating the heck out of me.

I tried defending myself as best I could but it wasn't easy since I was caught off guard and had just returned from an injury. I had managed to hit Jericho once then was beaten until I was nearly unconscious. I highly doubt that Big Show just conveniently walked past us and decided to help his friend beat the holy heck out of me. After it was all said and done Chris manhandled me and took me out to the ring. Ryback and Sheamus came out before Chris and they seemed pretty confused by the situation, just like me.

Chris got a microphone then threw me on the ground. "Ya see, I have a problem with The Shield. They interfered in my match three months ago and I never had a rematch." The crowd gave him mixed reactions since they too didn't know what was going on. "I understand most of you don't know why I have our dear little friend with me. It's simple really, I hate The Shield, she's friends with them, and I want to send a message to them."

Sheamus didn't really like where this was going so he intervened on my part. "Listen fella, I want to kick The Shield's arse just as much as you, but we don't need to do this."

As the two of them bantered back and forth I had enough time to recuperate and get to my feet. I stumbled into the ropes and leaned on them for support when the best possible thing happened.

Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta...Shield.

The Shield came down through the crowd and, even though they won their first ever match in the WWE last night at TLC, they looked to be in a foul mood. They came down to the ring rather quickly, I don't mean like running or sprinting, but for them it was very quick. They hopped the barricade and grabbed on to the second rope to climb into the ring. Jericho went right after them but was quickly overpowered.

Sheamus and Ryback quickly got involved in the fight. Sheamus went after Seth while Ryback went after Roman. The Shield was now starting to lose this fight since Sheamus and Ryback had attacked them while they were dealing with Jericho.

Knowing that I would need to help my friends, I looked around to see who needed my help the most. Dean and Chris were trading punches, Seth was defending himself pretty well, and Roman was having a difficult time fending off Ryback. Since Roman needed my help the most I jumped on Ryback's back and wrapped my arms around his neck.

Ryback instantly stopped his assault on Roman and focused all his energy on getting rid of me. He tried to shake me off, but I just tightened my hold on him, effectively cutting off the blood flow to his brain. Ryback had fallen to one knee and was beginning to get desperate to get me off.

By this point in time Roman had risen to his feet. He looked at me in shock, probably since I had just run up to Ryback and attacked him. After he go over the shock of seeing me attacking Ryback his eyes flickered to Ryback, then me, almost as if he was looking for approval.

Thinking that he wanted to finish Ryback off I nodded and let go. I backed away as Ryback took a Big Boot from Roman and fell to the mat. Roman went to help Seth so I went to help Dean take out Chris. Without thinking I ran at Chris and Speared him. While Chris was still groggy I took advantage of the moment and decided to get some payback for earlier. I grabbed Chris by his hair and slammed his head repeatedly into the mat before getting up and doing a few Knee Drops on him. I was finally pulled off of Chris by The Shield, just so they could do a three man Powerbomb on him.

After it was all said and done The Shield and I were leaving, but then DX's music hit. We all turned around and faced Shawn and Hunter who had just come out. Shawn seemed indifferent to the whole situation while Hunter wore jealousy like Shawn wears cowboy hats.

"Ashlan, what did I tell you about The Shield?" Hunter yelled.

I playfully stuck my tongue out at Hunter, but he didn't appear to be in a gaming mood. After receiving a glare from him I just stopped my childish gestures. None of us had a microphone, and since we were already halfway through the audience yelling wouldn't help.

"You get down here right now!" Hunter shouted.

Shawn came up to him and tried to calm him down. 'Whoa, easy there Hunter. You need to calm down." Shawn then looked up at me and took Hunter's microphone. "Ash, will you please come down here with us so we can leave?"

I shook my head and took a few steps up the stairs.

Shawn sighed and gave me a frustrated look. "Seriously Ash, you have to come back with us."

Again I shook my head no and took a few more steps up.

Hunter snatched the microphone out of Shawn's hand and glared up at me. "Okay I want some answers! Before your Inferno Match you absolutely hated The Shield and now you're like best friends with them. What the heck happened? And by the way, yeah I know about that little crush you had on me, why the heck do ya think I kissed you that day in the hospital?"

For some reason something Hunter said got under my skin. I took my time and made my way down the steps until I reached the bottom. I then hopped the barrier and grabbed myself a microphone. "I'm not gonna lie to ya Hunt, yeah I did at one point in time hate The Shield. I'd always come out and help whatever superstar was getting their butt kicked, except for Brad Maddox because I hate the kid. But that's not the point. The point is, people can change. You, oh yes you, have changed my friend." I said as I climbed into the ring so I could look down at Hunter. "Yeah, I use to have a crush on you. That all faded when you shattered my wrist and became a jealous psycho freak. I use to hate The Shield, but that changed when I actually got to know them. And as to what happened in the hospital room, let’s just say there's a reason I didn't kiss back." My eyes flickered to Dean for literally one second, but Hunter managed to catch it.

Now Hunter was still jealous of The Shield since they spent more time with me than he did, so he decided to take out his anger. He charged down the ramp and went right around the ring and into the crowd. He was headed straight for Dean Ambrose.

Once I realized where Hunter was headed I was out of that ring and over the barrier faster than Daniel Bryan and Sheamus' WrestleMania 28 match. Seth got to Hunter before I could, but Hunter pushed Seth into the crowd with ease. The fans however, were smart enough to move out of the way. Hunter was about twenty steps up when he actually got to Dean, and I was right behind him. When I reached Hunter I grabbed a hold of his arm and tried to stop him, but Hunter threw me off of him. Remember how we were on the steps? Yeah, it didn't work in my favor today. I was sent tumbling down the concrete stairs. It wasn't like we were the whole way at the top, no we were only about twenty stairs up, but it was definitely enough to do some damage.

Shawn had hopped the barrier right before I hit the bottom so he was right there when I reached the bottom of the stairs. "Ash, Ash say something!" He rolled me towards him and revealed the blood that was trickling out of my mouth.

"Shawn," I moaned. "What just happened?"

Shawn sat down on the floor and brought me close to him so he could hug me. "Don't ever do something that stupid again!" He cried.

I did the best I could to chuckle and looked up at him. "No promises." I then looked up at the crowd and saw Seth and Roman trying to stop Dean and Hunter from killing each other. "Hey Shawn, you might want to stop your best friend from killing my best friend."

Shawn was reluctant at first, but after assuring him I'd be fine he shot up the steps towards the fight. With some help from Roman, Shawn managed to restrain Hunter and calm him down quite a bit. Shawn then pointed down to me, probably to tell him 'hey, you just knocked Ashlan down a flight of stairs'. Hunter seemed to have a hard time processing everything while Dean on the other hand, understood everything.

Dean rushed down the steps to come to my aid, even though I didn't really need any. "Oh my god Ash, are you alright?"

I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I just rolled down a flight of stairs. No I'm totally fine." I replied sarcastically.

Dean pulled me into a bear hug. "You're being sarcastic so you weren't hurt too bad."

I began laughing but it quickly turned to coughing. I then saw that I was coughing up blood. "Well, this isn't good." I groaned. I looked back up at Hunter to see what was going on up there. Roman still had Hunter's arms behind (Hunter's) back while Shawn still tried to explain what happened to Hunter. Seth was just standing there in case things got out of hand again.

"Ash we have to get you to the trainers." Dean said, pulling me away from my thoughts.

"Wha-oh, alright." I mumbled.

Dean helped me up and helped me over the barrier. "Is your wrist feeling alright?" He asked as he guided me up the ramp.

I moved my wrist around for a while to make sure. "Yeah, It doesn't hurt so I must not have hit it that much." The second we got backstage medics took me away from Dean to get me checked out. I only have a problem with doctors when I'm alone, so I might have been a little uncooperative. Well, does being dragged to the training room by seven or eight guys count as being a little uncooperative? I guess it doesn't really matter because they eventually got back to the training room. Once we were in the training room I was a little more cooperative, but I was extremely hostile. It probably took the guys twenty minutes just to check me over before they let anybody in to see me.

As expected, Shawn was the first person through the door. "You're okay, aren't you?" He asked.

"As far as I know yeah." I replied honestly. I didn't feel like I needed to go to a hospital so that right there was a pretty big indicator that I was fine.

One of the medics came over to us with a clipboard in hand. "Well Ms. Shaw, you appear to be fine. We were worried since you appeared to be coughing up blood that you might have had some internal bleeding, but as it turns out you bit down on the inside of your cheek when you fell. You are very lucky though. Other than that you don't appear to have any serious injuries. I will warn you, you'll be sore for a few days and you'll probably have a lot of bruises for the next week or two."

"Yeah alright," I said as I got up off the examination table." "Thanks doc." I started walking towards the door but then Shawn put his arm around my shoulder. "What are you doing?"

"I uh, thought you might need some help walking." He mumbled in embarrassment.

"When I have two broken legs I'll need help walking. Until then I'll be good." I wasn't watching where I was going and walked into the wall right after I finished talking.

Shawn began snickering behind me. "You sure you don't need any help?"

"Don't. Say. Anything." I growled as I got up off the floor.

"Hey it's cool, I get it. Walls are your most dangerous enemy in the WWE." Shawn teased.

As soon as I got close enough to Shawn I punched him in the arm. I didn't playfully punch him either, I literally put all my force behind that punch.

Shawn stumbled backwards and glared at me. "Hey not cool, I was only joking around!"

"Yeah, well maybe I was too." I snarled before turning around and walking back into the wall. "Stupid freaking wall." I muttered.

"I would help you up," Shawn said. "But I can't feel my arm!"

As I got up off the floor for a second time Jeff Hardy rushed in and scooped me into a hug. "Oh my god Ashlan, you're the most accident prone girl on the planet."

I gasped at the sudden shock of the force from Jeff's hug, but once I did I hugged him back. "Hey Jeffy, good to see you too."

"You're not hurt, are you?" Jeff asked, but answered his own question. Before I could reply. "Of course you are, it takes more than twenty stairs to keep you down!"

I looked up at Jeff quizzically. "Jeff, how many packs of Skittles have you eaten?"

Jeff thought for a second before cheerfully replying. "I don't know, I lost count after a lot."

"Just great," I muttered sarcastically. "Just what we need, a hyper Hardy." As I facepalmed myself a thought suddenly came to mind. "Where's everybody at?"

"Well, Hunter's back at the locker room, probably flipping his lid, The Shield is...wherever The Shield usually is and I don't know where Matt is." Shawn replied. "You might want to go find The Shield by the way, they were pretty worried."

"But what about Hunter?" I whined.

Shawn shooed me away. "I'll go talk to Hunter, you go find The Shield and tell them you're alright, and Jeff...go find your brother, tell him how many packs of Skittles you ate, then tell him Ash is fine."

Jeff nodded and bolted out the door, but I wasn't ready to leave quite yet. "Shawn I have a question for you."

Shawn melodramatically sighed. "What is it?"

"Why don't you mind me hanging out with Roman, Seth, and Dean? I mean, if anybody you should have a problem with it." I was almost a hundred percent sure I sounded like a little kid when I asked that.

Shawn's eyes lost the annoyed look in them and gained a more serious one. "I'm not going to lie, I don't like it...but it's your life and I need to let you make your own decisions."

I smiled and wrapped him in a bear hug. "Thanks Shawny." When I let go of him I then made my way out of the training room and down the hall. I tried to recall how to get to the 'undisclosed location' Dean took me to that one day. Of course I then realized we were in a different arena and it would probably be in a different location. "Stupid logic." I grumbled to myself. "Why can't things be in the same place even though they're in different arenas?" I let out a frustrated sigh and continued down the hall until I realized something else; I had all three members of The Shield's phone numbers. Hastily I pulled out my phone and dialed Dean's number, but he never answered. I then dialed Roman's number but he didn't answer either. "Seth you better answer your phone." I muttered as I dialed his number. To my relief he actually answered. "Where the heck are you guys at? I called Dean and Roman and got no answer and I've been wandering around for like five minutes trying to find you guys!"

"Ash, is that you?" Seth asked in shock.

"Who else would it be?" I asked sarcastically. "But seriously, where are you guys?"

"Hold on, I'll come and get you." He replied. "Where are you at?"

"I'm by the superstars locker room." I replied. "Wait, you never answered my question!"

"I'll be there in a couple minutes." Seth completely disregarded my question and hung up the phone.

I turned my phone of and stuffed it back into my pocket. "I'm so glad I have an Otter Box on that thing, I always forget that it's in my pocket before my matches." I leaned against the wall and waited for Seth. I think I stood there for a solid two minutes before I got bored and decided to play a game on my phone. I pulled it back out and scrolled through my games. After going through my games I thought Angry Birds would be the best, so that's what I played. I cleared those levels so quickly I was on level twelve when Seth found me.

"Well, I see you used your time constructively." Seth commented when he saw me on m phone.

"Yup, cleared twelve levels." I replied as I shut the game down.

"Well, let’s go. Dean and Roman should be back by the time we get there." Seth said.

As we began walking my curiosity kicked in. "So what and where is this 'there'?"

"The Shield's locker room." He replied.

The only thought in my mind was 'holy crap these guys have a locker room'. "Nice, I didn't know you guys had a locker room."

Seth nodded. "It's a hidden one since the whole locker room would break down the door if they knew about it."

"So where'd Roman and Dean go?" I asked.

Seth turned around and looked at me. "Okay you're an awesome person, don't get me wrong, but right now all these questions are annoying the heck out of me."

I put my hands up in the air as a sign of defeat and we continued walking, this time in silence. When we finally reached the locker room I had a lot of questions I wanted to ask, most of which would lead in me getting beaten up.

Seth opened the door and let me in. "So yeah, this is our locker room. It's nothing special really."

Right after he said that Dean came out of the shower...area in the corner with nothing but jeans on. When he saw me he ran up to me and hugged me. "Thank god you're alright."

"Yeah, I know." I said. As I stayed in his embrace, water began dripping down on me from his hair. "Not that I have a problem with hugging you, but if we don't let go soon I'm going to be soaked."

"Oh sorry, I should go put a shirt on." He said as he let go.

When he went back to the shower area I leaned towards Seth and whisper, "I thought you said there was nothing special about you guys' locker room."

Seth chuckled and whispered back, "There's nothing special about it to me."

After a few minutes Dean came back out with a plain black t-shirt on, followed by Roman who was also in casual clothes. The two of them were deep in conversation and it just didn't feel right to listen in so I sat down on the couch, put my headphones in, and listened to some music off my phone. The first song that played was Edge's theme song, which got me thinking. I haven't talked to Edge in ages.

I started feeling all sad and stuff so I changed the song and of course it switched to another wrestler's theme song. This time however it was Rob Van Dam's old WWE theme song. I then thought about how his career was going over in TNA. Me and Rob were pretty good friends for awhile until he left in '07. After that I just took my headphones out and shoved my phone back into my pocket.

Seth grabbed his bag and went to the shower area leaving me with no one to talk to. I sighed and rested my head on the arm of the couch. After a couple minutes Dean came and sat beside me.

"So, what are you going to do about Hunter?" He asked.

I lifted my head off the arm and looked at him. "I'm definitely staying as far away from him as possible."

Dean looked at me in confusion. "Wait, aren't you rooming with him?"

I looked down at the floor. "Uh...yeah."

"You can come stay with us if you want." Dean offered.

"I'll have to go get my bag and ask Shawn." I pointed out.

"Nope, we already asked him and grabbed your bag for you." He said proudly.

"Alright then, I guess I'm staying with you guys again." I was so happy, not only was I getting away from Hunter, but I was also getting to spend time with three of my favorite guys.
