I was with The Shield at the "undisclosed location" with only five minutes until the live Smackdown event started. I had an amazing time at Kennywood with Dean, Seth, and Roman, but even thinking about that wasn't helping me very much. My stomach felt like it was twisted into a pretzel, telling me that something was going down tonight. If I had to place a bet I'd say Hunter's going to start something.
The recap from last week's Smackdown and a few things from last night kicked off the show, followed by DX's theme song. It was safe to say from the way Shawn and Hunter acted that they were upset. Even though they did their usual entrance, minus me, they looked angry, they acted angry, and when they began talking they sounded angry.
"Alright I'm just gonna cut to the chase. Last night, during Ashlan's match, The Shield came out and interfered. They attacked Jerishow, and then kidnapped Ash." Shawn said. The anger that was apparent in his voice rattled me to the bone. The last time he was ever this angry all Hell broke loose in that ring.
"Sierra, Hotel, India, Echo, Lima, Delta...Shield"
I stood behind Dean as he held on to my wrist in an attempt to calm my nerves, which of course was to no avail. I looked the whole way across the audience at Roman who was focusing intently on DX. I then looked beside me at Seth who looked back at me. His face was serious but the look in his eyes was comforting.
"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, we didn't kidnap her." Dean said into his microphone as we made our way through the crowd. "We saved her from injustice and took care of her, which is more than you two did."
"You should know as well as I do that we couldn't help her." Hunter snarled as he glared straight at Dean. "After all, you attacked Shawn and I had to stay and take care of him!"
The crowd booed at the mention of Shawn's attack at the hands of The Shield. One of the fans threw their soda at Dean but it hit me in the back of the head. Both Dean and I whipped our heads around and glared up in the direction it came from, but we soon turned away and continued down the stairs.
I looked down in the ring at Shawn and Hunter and silently pleaded with them to not start anything with The Shield. I knew that my pleading was to no avail but I still needed to do it to give me some peace of mind. As we approached the barrier I felt my cheeks growing hot and my heart began pounding to the point that I was sure everybody in the arena could hear it.
"It looks like there's going to be a fight to kick Smackdown!" Michael Cole exclaimed from the announce table.
I sure hope not! I thought.
"From the look on her face I don't think Ashlan wants one to happen." JBL said.
You got that right!
"What, do you think Ashlan actually likes The Shield?" Cole asked with disgust filling his voice.
Oh, shut up Cole!
"Well I don't know, they only saved her from an Inferno Match." JBL replied sarcastically.
Thank you for understanding!
Dean and Seth hopped the barrier before I did, then the three of us met up with Roman and we all climbed into the ring together. The Shield stood protectively in front of me as they confronted DX. The tension in the air couldn't be cut by a knife but a machete instead. Knowing that the slightest move could cause an all out brawl I stayed behind The Shield, to fearful to do anything.
"I'm only going to say this once," Hunter growled into his microphone. "Hand Ash over to us!"
"She's not being held for ransom." Seth said coolly. "She can leave any time she wants to."
Hunter and Shawn both beckoned for me to come towards them and, after receiving nods from all members of The Shield, I slowly trudged towards DX.
As soon as I was within reach of them, Hunter tightly gripped my wrist and pulled me towards them. "Come on, we're leaving."
"Hunter," I whined. "Please let go of me, you're hurting me!" My pleas only seemed to anger him further and he gripped my wrist even tighter. I let out a little whine which was only audible to those in the ring, but it was enough to piss off all three members of The Shield.
"Let her go Paul!" Dean snarled as The Shield advanced closer to DX.
Hunter's grip tightened on me causing me to cry out in pain. "Hunter let go!" I tried pulling away from him but he was so much stronger than me.
Shawn had enough of this and intervened on my part. "Hunter let go of her, you're hurting her!" After that didn't work Shawn did the first thing that came to mind and punched Hunter in the face.
Now, one thing about Hunter is that he is easily provoked, and when he's provoked he proves just how strong he truly is. Another thing is that he tends to clench his fist when he's mad. Well, my wrist in an upset Hunter's grip...it wasn't a good thing for me.
I screamed in pain as I felt the pain shoot through my hand and I fell to my knees. The Shield then came to my aid by attacking Hunter. Hunter still had a grip on my wrist however and just when I thought I was going to pass out from the pain he began calming-
I let out the most bloodcurdling scream imaginable and Hunter let go of me suddenly. The arena had become dead silent by this point so everybody in the arena could hear my screams.
Finally Cole broke the silence. "Oh. My. God. Triple H...did he just snap Ashlan's wrist?"
"We need to get the medics out here now!" JBL exclaimed.
The Shield had stopped their assault on Hunter and was now trying to tend to me, but that proved to be difficult since I couldn't stop screaming and rolling around in the ring.
Hunter sat in the corner and just stared at me. Guilt was clearly tearing at him because he was lost in his thoughts but tears were streaming down his cheeks. Shawn was trying his best to console his friend but Hunter was gone. What was left was the broken shell of a man with whom I'd respected and even had a crush on.
Shawn looked up from Hunter so he could see how I was doing. He could tell I wasn't doing very good so he said to The Shield, "Get her out of here."
The medics finally came out and they had to have The Shield help me to my feet and keep me stable as I stumbled to the back. I had finally quit screaming but the pain was still apparent, causing me to whimper every now and again.
"Shh, it'll be alright Ash, it'll be alright." Dean whispered in my ear as he helped me backstage. His left arm was draped over my shoulder while his right one was holding my side to keep me level.
Matt and Jeff ran up to us the second we passed through the curtain. "We saw what happened, is she alright?"
"We don't know." Roman replied sternly.
"Where's Hunter at?" Matt asked.
"Still in the ring." Came Seth's annoyed response.
The Hardy Boyz then headed towards the curtain, leaving us with the medics. Everything was quiet except for my occasional whimpering. That silence was shattered when we got to the training room. The medics and trainers had to check my wrist to see how bad the damage was. The problem was the second my wrist was touched pain shot through my whole arm and I couldn't help but to scream out in pain. I soon had to be sedated so I could calm down enough to be taken to a hospital.
I finally came around in the hospital almost an hour and a half later. Dean, Shawn, and Jeff were in the room with me. I could only assume everybody else was waiting somewhere else, most likely in the hall. I groaned and sat up in the hospital bed.
Shawn was the first to notice me stir and in a matter of seconds was by my side. "Oh god Ash, I was so worried! Hunter just snapped out there and he's so sorry. I'm just glad nothing worse happened."
Dean looked across the room and gave him a 'really' look. "Nothing worse? He shattered her wrist! She needs surgery if she ever wants to wrestle again!"
My eyes widened and I looked down at my wrist. It was heavily bandaged so I couldn't move it and damage it further. "My wrist is..." I mumbled in confusion.
"Shattered, yes." Dean replied in a very hostile tone.
"W-What do you mean by shattered?" I didn't want to hear the answer, but I still had to ask the question.
"The x-rays are on the wall if you want to see them." Dean was very hostile tonight and I didn't like it one bit.
I swung my legs over the edge of the bed and walked over to the board on the wall Dean was referring to. The pictures on the wall showed what I can only describe as looking like splintering wood. My stomach twisted into a knot as I stumbled back to my bed. I felt as though I would be sick.
"Whoa, you alright Ash?" Jeff asked as he brushed his bright red hair out of his face.
"Yeah," I mumbled as I nodded m head. "Just a little shocked."
"Is there anything we can do for you?" Shawn inquired.
"I want to talk to Hunter...alone." I replied.
Dean's head shot up when I added the alone part. "I don't think that's such a good idea, he's been acting different."
"I need to talk to him." I argued in a firm voice. "If you want to stay in the hall fine, but I need to know what the heck happened out there."
Dean pulled his lips back into a snarl and stormed out of the room. Shawn and Jeff soon followed him and a few moments later Hunter came in, his head hung down in shame.
"Hunt, look at me when I'm talking to you." I said authoritatively.
Hunter slowly lifted his head and reveal that he had recently been crying. His hair was tangled all throughout and resembled what it would look like after one of his matches. "Ash I...I'm sorry. I was so angry and I wasn't thinking!" He fell to his knees, buried his face into his hands, and began sobbing uncontrollably.
I got out of bed and draped my right arm over his broad shoulders. "You need to calm down. I forgive you. I know how you get when you're angry."
Hunter looked up at me with his glassy, bloodshot, hazel eyes. "After all this you're still willing to forgive me?"
"Yes Hunter," I replied quietly. "I'm willing to forgive you, but first I need to know why you don't want me to hang out with The Shield."
"They're bad news." He growled. The sorrow in his eyes was quickly replaced by a burning anger.
"True they don't have a good reputation," I admitted. "But they aren't bad guys and I happen to like them."
Hunter turned his head away from me and let out a deep growl.
"What's wrong with you Hunter?" I asked. "You act like you're jealous of..." I stopped when I began connecting dots. "You are jealous of The Shield, aren't you?"
Hunter didn't look back at me but he got up off the floor. "I don't want you spending any more time with them anymore."
"What...no...NO! I will most certainly not stop spending time with them!" I snapped in frustration.
"Ash please hear me out, they'll just lead to nothing but trouble." Hunter pleaded.
"Why do you have a problem with me hanging out with them?" I growled.
Before I could react Hunter's lips crashed into mine. I stumbled backwards until my back crashed into the wall. Now I was pinned between Hunter and the wall and I couldn't get away from him. I didn't kiss back; only stare at him in shock.
When Hunter pulled away from me and stared intently into my gray eyes. "Ash, I love you and I want you to be mine and mine alone."
The Shield came into the room and got Hunter to leave. As to whether or not they saw that I don't know, I'm just glad they got rid of Hunter.
Matt and Jeff were the first ones to leave, followed by Shawn and Hunter, leaving me alone with The Shield. I was relieved that Hunter left because after that moment...I don't know how to act around him anymore. Maybe I should tell somebody about it. The Shield? I don't know, it was them who Hunter was jealous of, and it was them who Hunter didn't want me spending time with. I finally sucked it up and decided to tell them what happened. "Hunter...doesn't want me...spending time with you guys anymore."
All three of them stopped what they were doing and stared at me. "You're not going to listen to him, are you?" Seth asked.
"Are you crazy? Heck no I'm not listening to him!" I shouted. "That's like saying you'll force me like John Cena, no matter how hard you try it's not gonna happen."
"Why?" Roman asked with his arms folded across his chest.
I looked down and fidgeted with my fingers. "He's...jealous of you guys. He um...kissed me when it was just the two of us and said he loved me and wanted me to be his and his alone."
Dean's lips curled back in a snarl and he began pacing around the room. "I can't believe he did that! When I get my hands on him I'll-"
"Dean calm down!" I exclaimed. "Holy crap man, you've been so hostile today and I don't like it. Save it for the ring dude!"
Roman and Seth took Dean outside into the hall so they could calm him down, but after that proved to be impossible they decided it would be best to leave.
I watched as the three of them walked out the door then I sat with my knees to my chest. Everything was changing so quickly. Hunter admitting his feelings for me, my wrist injury, DX's match on Sunday. OH CRAP! I completely forgot about the match in a few days! Now what are they going to do since they're down a member? Oh this day just gets better as it goes!
