The New Servants
(A/N: CHANGING LIKE... EVERYTHING ALMOST)
My alarm went off and I groaned. I put my glasses on and turned it off. I hated Wednesdays. I dragged myself out of bed and yawned. I went downstairs where my brother and grandparents were.
"Hey little sis." My brother, Chase, said, playfully putting me in a headlock and ruffling my hair.
"Chase, let go of your sister. You both need to get ready for school." Papa said.
He let go of me and I headed into the kitchen where I got myself something to eat.
"Oh, Ms. Roberts, you're awake." My personal servant, Jacob, said.
I smiled at him and sat down with my breakfast. When I finished, I went back to my room to get dressed. Just a normal blue T-shirt, jeans, and black shoes. I was just an ordinary girl as far as my classmates were concerned.
"Ms. Roberts, would you like me to drive you to school?" Jacob asked.
"No thank you, Jacob. I'd rather walk. Maybe some other time." I replied with a thankful smile.
He returned my smile and I headed off to school, Chase following behind me.
"I still don't know why you won't tell anyone you're my sister and that we're rich." Chase said.
"I have many reasons, I just don't want to tell you." I said simply.
I was slammed against the side of the school.
"Hey whore, don't forget about the homework you owe us. We'll be too busy with our new job. I heard they have a daughter our age and she better be hot, or else I'll take it out on you." Kyle sneered.
"Harry, knowing you, that girl would only me innocent for three minutes." Ty said.
Keith and Riley laughed as Danny gave a half hearted one. Ty was one of the nicer ones, but at least Danny didn't beat on me. None of them even remembered my name.
"Just get it done, whore." Kyle said, shoving paper against my chest.
I gathered it up and put it in my school bag. I hurried down the street and called Jacob.
"Ms. Roberts, is everything alright?" Jacob asked.
"Yes, thank you. I was just hoping you could come take me home... Please." I said.
"Of course, you could've just asked."
"Thank you..." When he pulled up, I hurried in before anyone saw.
We drove back in silence, an awkward one. As soon as we pulled up, I hurried out of the car and into my room to get dressed. We were getting new servants., but I honestly didn't think it was very far that we had so many. I put my red hair in a high ponytail, I threw on a blue shirt with lace sleeves and a lace back, as well as a pair of skinny jeans. I changed my mind and decided to leave my hair down. I quickly fixed my glasses. I put on a light blue beanie and smiled.
"Ms. Roberts, they're here." Jacob said.
"Alright, thank you. I'll be down in a moment." I said.
Jacob nodded and headed off. I looked at myself in the mirror. Perfect! I thought. I headed downstairs and saw the last people I'd ever want to see. Kyle, Ty, Keith, Riley, and Danny. Their eyes popped out of their head. This was going to be fun.
"Ms. Roberts, this is Kyle, Riley, Ty, Keith, and Danny." Jacob said.
I smiled a bit and bowed a bit.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." I said with a big and very fake smile.
"You look very nice." Kyle said, smirking and his eyes wondering my body.
I rolled my eyes a bit and Jacob tapped my shoulder.
"Ms. Roberts, if you won't mind, why don't you get to know them a bit." Jacob said.
"I know that I hate them." I muttered under my breath.
"I said I'd love to!"
I put on a fake smile and lead them into the living room.
"So, where do you boys go to school?" I asked.
"Hill Yard High School." Ty replied.
"So, tell me more about yourselves."
They told me things I already knew and just proved to be bigger jerks than I thought. All but Danny. He seemed quiet.
"Kyle, you seemed troubled. May I ask what's wrong?" I asked.
"There's just a girl I beat up in school and she's a whore. I don't like her and you just look like a beautiful version of her." Harry replied.
I felt anger build inside me and I almost called him something I was too polite to say.
"You know, Harry. You shouldn't beat people up. It's not very nice and it'll come back to bite you. What did she ever do to you? How would you like it if you were bullied?" I asked.
He fell silent at loss of words.
"If you would please excuse me, I must go out to the garden." I said and stood up.
I walked out to the garden and my parents came to mind. We used to spend most our time out here. I didn't realize it, but I was followed.
"I may not be the smartest person in the world, but I know it's you." Danny's voice said from behind me.
"What ever do you mean?" I asked, smiling innocently.
"I can't forget you, Alexis. Your hair, glasses, eyes, everything about you is unforgettable. It's something I can't forget."
"Alright, alright. You caught me, but I beg you, please don't tell the boys." I gave his sad eyes.
"I wouldn't dream of it." He smiled.
"Thank you, Danny! I owe you!"
"And I'm sorry." He looked down.
"For what? You did nothing wrong." I gave him a confused look.
"I'm sorry for bullying you. I never wanted to and never liked to. I've always felt guilty." He looked up at me.
"You're not like the other boys, so why did you?"
"Because I didn't know what else to do. I've known them for awhile and I guess I want them as friends."
"I forgive you. It's not your fault. You just want to fit in... I do, too... I just don't want people using me..."
He gave me a weak smile and bit his lip before wrapping me into a small hug. I felt myself begin to blush.
What on Earth did he do to me?
