I spend the rest of the day with him, told him about all the times I’d actually taken pictures of him. Somehow he loved listening to it because he would know just how much I knew about everyone. It seemed like it was his new game, something he wouldn’t get tired of listening to.
We were sitting with some of the hundreds of pictures I had gotten with different celebrities. I had them all printed besides the new ones of course, but once a month or so I went to get them printed so I could have them with me in another way that just on my phone or my laptop.
“That party, how did you know about it?”
I lay the pictures on the table and sat back in the sofa. I looked at him with a sad yet confused expression just to tell him this was the horrible part of this.
“There’s always an insider. There’s always someone telling about where and when people are where they are.”
“Who is it?”
“I can’t tell you Niall, because I don’t know.”
“Just tell me.”
“No I’m telling you the truth I don’t know any of them. I know the paparazzi and I’m part of them but I’m just taking pictures and selling them. I’m texting people all the time and talking with everyone I know who’s good with this. I’m never the one to find people or know where they are.”
“So it’s all just luck for you.”
“Before I became part of the paparazzi I was running around with some other people here from London. We were trying to meet everyone and sneak into concerts because we wanted to be better than everyone. This is how it’s always been working for us. Then at a party I met Andy, and I knew who he was. We had fun and he was really easy to speak with. I really enjoyed it and we just started talking more and more, decided to meet up at the club again some other time so that’s what we did, that’s how I met Liam as well. We’ve been partying together so many times because it’s literally the only club I go to.”
“Do you think Andy is the insider?”
“Andy loves the attention but he’s not that desperate, but I hear what you’re saying. After all what was he doing in Primrose Hill today?”
“He was there with Liam.”
“I didn’t see Liam anywhere, and neither did the rest.”
“Probably his girlfriend then.”
“He has a girlfriend?”
I sat up and looked strangely at Niall. Andy never told me about that and I had known him for about a year now. I had never seen or heard of a girlfriend, never inside or outside of the club.
“Yeah you didn’t know?”
“No he’s never said anything.”
“Don’t worry about it, it’s not a big deal.”
“Not a big deal? What else haven’t he told me?”
“Why are you acting like that, he’s just a friend of you isn’t he?”
“He is, but I’ve kissed him!”
“You kissed Andy?! When?!”
“It’s not a big deal it was a long time ago, before I knew you.”
I winked at him treating him like he had just treated me. It wasn’t a good feeling but this was how it was. We sat for a while without saying anything until my stomach spoke. I hadn’t gotten any lunch and it was getting kinda late so I was starving.
“You wanna go get something to eat?”
“Yeah I was actually thinking about it.”
“Let’s go get a pizza then.”
Niall sat up properly in the sofa and so did I before he got up and offered me his hand. The nearest pizza place wasn’t far away and we went there walking beside each other enjoying each other’s company and talking about everything and nothing. This was usually how we got to know each other better.
Soon we were back in my apartment with a huge pizza to share and sat in the living room with it and watched some crap on the TV. There wasn’t much to watch at this hour but we kinda just enjoyed having the background noise while we were completely focused on the pizza.
I lay down on the sofa resting my head on Niall’s lap as soon as I was done eating. I had been eating far too much and I was feeling so exhausted. I always got tired when I had eaten a lot, I don’t know why my body was working like that, but for some reason it was.
“So what now?”
My voice was low almost a whisper and I felt how I was almost falling asleep as he was playing with my hair with one hand and holding my hand with his other.
“Do you think we can make this work Diana?”
“Make what work?”
I didn’t answer him and he stopped playing with my hair for a second.
“I know I was daring to ask, but I want to know if you can see us together in the future be together as more than friends. Otherwise I’m not gonna keep fighting for it, I don’t wanna end up hurting you because I want to kiss you or hold your hand or cuddle you from behind.”
“I don’t know to be honest. You’re a sweet guy, don’t get me wrong. But will it ever work out with me living so far away? I need to go home soon Niall, and I don’t know for how long.”
“Let me come with you.”
“I just can’t let you come with me to Sweden. It’s so different over there. I’m a local back home and everybody knows me but they’ve known me since before any of this started. It’s so different and they will start talking as soon as they see you, you know that right?”
“Let them speak Diana, don’t be afraid of people talking.”
“Talking about people talking I need to check something out.”
I took my phone from the table and google “Niall Horan News” only to find the article Adam had texted me about.
“You know there’s an article about you with the pictures from earlier and about your club visit the other night. They are making up what’s going on.”
“They always do, they always do Diana.”
