When living separate sounds wrong for both people in a relationship it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been together. I knew what I wanted with my life, I had done for many years and now that Niall was a part of it, it was all becoming perfect for me. We needed to be together so just a few days after I had returned to England Niall and I were on the flight to Sweden. It must have been a special flight because for once I could actually fly home to the airport only 20 minutes from where I lived in Gothenburg. My mum picked us up at the airport. Our relationship had become so much better after she had seen me with Niall. I guess it made her feel safe that she actually had a face on the person I was spending so much time with and how I was spending my time with him.
My mum had never liked when I was out on the streets with everyone, so when I was finally away we were as close as sisters.
“So how was the flight?”
My mum was standing outside waiting for us, so we could come out as quickly as possible.
“It was nice, let’s move. I can’t have people seeing us right now.”
I wasn’t speaking loud enough for people around us to hear which the point was. I didn’t need attention when I knew we would get it as soon as we moved in together.
We moved out to the car and as soon as we got in Niall took his hoodie and sunglasses of so he could see properly.
“Are you guys hungry? I was thinking about cooking Janssons frestelse for dinner.”
Niall didn’t know about the dish but I knew he would most likely like it. It was one of my favourite traditional dishes.
“What is it?”
“It’s a casserole. Very delicious meal I cook it with chicken instead of the sprats though.”
“Sounds good to me then.”
He smiled and rested his hand on my thigh. We were always intertwined in each other and it was the perfect moment to be it at this point.
We drove back in silence and when we got to my villa in Gothenburg we went directly to my room after greeting my dad. Dad wasn’t used to having Niall around yet or in all me being around celebrities. He thought it was a weird thing, and I guess somehow it was but this time it was different and the thing about celebrities that my father had forgotten was that this was also just people.
We sat up in my bedroom and looked around. Niall enjoyed being in Sweden. It was different from home.
“So when are we gonna tell them?”
“I was thinking around dinner. It’s better for them to know as soon as possible because it will give them the chance of letting it sink in over the next few days and they will soon know that I’m not their little girl anymore.”
“Sounds good to me.”
We were silent for a while and I was walking around my room looking at all the different equipment I had around the room. This was the perfect room for a photographer and it was easy to tell that I had grown up with this in my late teenage years.
“Niall? Can I ask you something?”
“What did you think the first time you entered this room?”
“I loved it.”
“It’s very you, and it makes it easier to understand who you are and what you love.”
“But you know a lot about me already.”
“But your room tells me even more about you.”
“Well you keep your things organised and in place all the time, you’re always precious about your cameras and your pictures are all over the wall which indicates that you’re proud of them and want to show them off to everyone you’re letting in here. Yet it’s still very personal because you’re keeping some of them hidden away. I really enjoy the small stuff you’ve got around the room that still indicates that you’re not afraid to be a child, yet still be the grown up you are.”
He came up to me and stood behind me, holding me in his arms.
“Also you have the bedroom of an internet person. You belong in the place you were born but you belong online as well and with all the technology and tumblr stuff you have around you’re whiling to tell that you’re proud to be who you are and show it.”
“What’s your old room like?”
“Messy. I never tidy it. Really the typical boy’s room.”
“But it’s you, isn’t it?”
“It’s the person I used to be before joining the band.”
“But you haven’t changed much since then. Liam told me you’re still the same just older and more mature.”
“How long have you known him… Liam.”
“We met a long time ago.”
“But how long?”
“Just after One Direction started. I met him at the club in London because I was partying there with some of my friends from London when I bumped into Andy with one of my friends. He asked me if I wanted to join him for a cigarette, so I did and it just went on from there. After a few weeks he introduced me to Liam and him and I started talking but he could never know about me which made it all really hard and weird.”
“Why did you pull yourself through it?”
“I guess it’s hard to explain the things you do for people you care about. Liam understood me like no one else and he became someone close to me yet so far away.”
“Everything is different now Niall.”
“It is because you’re mine now.”
“And you’re mine and I love you with all of my heart and I wouldn’t want to lose you for anything in the world.”
