"Don't forget that!" Liam handed me the little mic I had to place in my ear. I sighed while putting it on; I'd be late if he kept on calling me back. After eating, he had led me into a huge room where he had looked for clothes for a long time before finally giving me some. He had told me I had to wear something not too classy. The way he had acted made me laugh a lot but after seeing the dark look on his face, I had stopped laughing at him straight away. He had given me black slim jeans with a black shirt and a grey pullover and low black boots. I had to admit his taste in clothes wasn't bad. But now that I thought about it; whom does these clothes belong to? I wasn't sure I wanted to know the answer...
“Okay. You remember how to go to the park, do you?” Liam’s voice got me out of my thoughts as he asked the same question for about the third time. I simply nodded and he carried on his speech,
“You know exactly what to do with Harry. And you better sure he will want to see you again.” I nodded again though I absolutely didn’t want to do this. I wished I could make Harry hate me so that it would save his life. But it was obvious it was either his life or mine.
“You can go now! Hurry up or you’re gonna be late!” He quickly opened the door and nearly threw me out but Louis had just arrived and had decided to tell me some friendly words,
“Keep in mind you can’t escape, Scarlett. If you try, I shall not be nice anymore.” And he closed the door. I sighed loudly, trying not to start crying. I was trapped like Harry was. We both were their victims...
After a while I finally reached the park and started to look for the meeting place, hoping I wasn’t late. But I noticed Harry already was there. He looked in my direction and started waving happily. I did the same, speeding up to reach his side.
“Hi Scarlett!” he greeted me with a wide smile on his face. I smiled back and told him I was sorry I was late but he didn’t seem to care.
“You feel better?” he asked me, looking with a concerned expression at my arm.
“Yes, I do. Thanks. I hope I will be able to sleep better tonight,” I told him with a weak smile and he nodded. “Shall we go then?” It was my turn to nod as we started to walk out of the park to get drinks.
I would have thought it would be a very awkward moment but to my surprise, it was one of the best afternoons I had ever spent. We ordered drinks before going back to the park, ambling along the small paths while talking. We talked about a lot of things, each new subject being more random than the one before. But even though it was a great afternoon, I couldn’t forget that Liam and Louis were listening cautiously to our conversation. Harry and I talked about many things but half the things I told were lies. I had had no choice. I couldn’t tell him about my real life; I hadn’t a life anymore now...
The afternoon went by pretty fast and I was almost deceived it was over. Harry was really nice and I really enjoyed spending time with him. But I couldn’t help but feel guiltiness overrunning me every time he looked at me. Why did they want to kill him? Why did they have to use me in their plans? It would have been the best day of my life if it wasn’t for their plan... Because I had to admit I started feeling attracted by Harry. And even though I had to make sure he would see me again to make their plan work, I couldn’t help but feeling thrilled at the mere thought of meeting Harry again.
“I’m sorry but it’s time for me to leave,” I told him at the end of the afternoon. It was Louis who had had the idea of me telling him I had to go so that he would be sad and ask me out again. But I wasn’t sure it would work...
Harry nodded, smiling weakly. “Okay... I spent a wonderful afternoon with you! Really!” he exclaimed.
“So did I! I enjoyed being with you!” I smiled widely. “Well... Goodbye then!”
“Goodbye, Scarlett.” He hugged me before I started walking away.
“What’s wrong with him? Why doesn’t he do what I planned?” Louis’ angry voice suddenly shouted in my ear. He kept on swearing but I stopped listening. He had been wrong. It made me happy; Harry would be almost safe.
All of the sudden, I felt a hand on shoulder. I jumped and turned around to see Harry standing in front of me.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to make you freak out,” he apologized awkwardly. I looked up at him without talking.
“Ermh...I...I was just wondering... Would you like to go out again? I mean it was a great afternoon so...” But he didn’t finish his sentence as I cut him off, “Yes, I’d love to!” A wide smile appeared on his face.
“See you soon then! I’ll call you!” he exclaimed happily before hugging me again and walking away.
“The noose is tightening,” Liam whispered in a grim voice.
I walked back to their house, concentring myself hard on the way I had made a few hours ago. And after what seemed to be ages, I finally reached my goal. I walked up toward the front door and knocked. I hope one of them would very soon come because it was starting to get cold outside. To my relief, Liam opened the door a short while and let me step in. He then went into the kitchen, where he must have been before I arrived, and I followed him.
In the small room was Louis, leaned against a wall. But he wasn’t alone; there was someone else sitting in front of him.
