"A murder? But...who?" Gemma yelled before rushing out of the car back to her house. I ran after her and caught her at the right time as she collapsed down on the floor.
"He hasn't done anything!" she managed to stutter through her tears.
"I know..." was all I managed to say. I felt powerless and useless by the side of that girl I didn't know.
"Let's sit on the couch, okay?" She didn't reply but I helped her standing up and led her there.
An arm wrapped around her shoulders, she cried against me for a long time. I didn't speak, not knowing what to say. But I knew being silent was better.
"I'm gonna make you some tea, is that okay?" She didn't reply again but she let me go away.
I walked in the kitchen and suddenly cursed myself. I'm gonna make some tea. What a stupid reaction! Gosh, she lost her boyfriend and the only thing that crossed my mind was tea. Pathetic, Scarlett, pathetic.
Anyway, I looked in the cupboard and soon found a kettle. But a loud knock on the door interrupted me.
I quickly went back to the living-room and it seemed Gemma hadn't heard anything. So I went back into the hall, wondering if I should open.
"Gemma, I know you're in! Open the door!" a female voice shouted from the other side and I felt relieved straight away.
"At last, I thought..." the same voice said as I opened the door but stopped at once when she saw me.
"I didn't make a mistake..." she mainly spoke to herself, taking a step backwards.
"You didn't! She's in the living room!" I told her quickly. The girl nodded quickly and rushed inside.
I walked back into the kitchen after closing the door, not wanting to disturb Gemma and her friend. I finished preparing the tea and went into the living room, where the two girls were hugging and Gemma crying even harder.
I placed the cups on the table and sat down on a chair on the opposite side.
"Thanks!" the girl said with a weak smile. I smiled back and stared at her for a few seconds. She noticed it and raised an eyebrow.
"Sorry!" I mumbled quickly, looking away. "It's just... I could swear I've already seen you..." I saw her blush but she didn't reply.
She was thin with curly brown hair and blue eyes. She was beautiful, that was all I had to say. But her face looked familiar. I just couldn't remember where I saw her.
"Thank you, Scarlett," Gemma's weak voice got me out of my thoughts. I smiled at her as she took a sip of tea, tears still flowing down her face.
"Umh...Gemma... do you mind if I go on Internet for a while?" I asked awkwardly because I knew it wasn't the right time.
But she shook her head and pointed out the stairs. "My room," she muttered.
I nodded and as I stood up, her friend did the same and walked toward me.
"Sorry I didn't introduce myself. I'm Eleanor." She smiled.
"I'm Scarlett. Nice to meet you although..." I didn't finish my sentence and looked over at Gemma. Eleanor nodded slowly.
"I let you two alone."
She glanced at her friend who now was staring toward the window, her look seeming utterly lost.
"I know how she feels," Eleanor murmured and I didn't understand. "I sadly know how she feels better than anyone else." A sudden sadness appeared in her eyes and I felt sorry for whatever happened to her straight away. I didn't know those two young women but they didn't deserve anything bad to happen to them.
I hugged Eleanor and she was taken aback at first before hugging me back. I squeezed her shoulder and walked upstairs.
I reached Gemma's room and opened her laptop. Luckily there was no code. I went on Google and started typing the name of a oh so famous old band. I needed to know more.
Looking through the old articles and through the pictures for a while, I learned a few things.
But nothing really helped me. So I went back on Google and typed the name of Gemma's boyfriend. I wanted to know why he had been involved.
And the answer appeared straight away. Josh was One Direction's drummer. He was related to them.
Now, all I wanted to know was Louis, Liam and Paul's plans and why they were acting that way.
I carried on looking a few pictures when one in particular caught my attention. I opened it bigger on the screen and gasped.
On the pic was standing Louis, smiling in a way I didn't think it was possible, and the girl who was with Gemma downstairs. Eleanor.
Louis and Eleanor. That guy once had a heart.
I looked closer at the picture and noticed right away how happy they looked. They were in love.
But where was that Louis. What happened to that lovely man on the picture?
"Found anything interesting?" Gemma's voice made me jump. I looked up at her standing in the door frame and my eyes met her puffy ones. She walked toward me and sat on her bed.
"I've found a few things." I shrugged my shoulders. Lying wasn't good but I couldn't tell her for now.
I had found the best weapon ever. I had found Louis' weakness.
"Eleanor left?" I inquired and Gemma nodded.
"She had to go back to work."
I smiled at her and moved beside her. She rested her head on my shoulder and started to cry again.
"You know what?" I muttered in her ear. I felt her shaking her head. "We're gonna avenge Josh."
She stopped sobbing and looked at me with surprise.
"I don't know yet. But we'll avenge him. And we'll save your brother, Niall and Zayn at the same time."
She wiped away her tears and spoke more firmly, "you promise?"
