*It was either Louis or Liam's POV! Thanks for voting*
"Coming back to his flat... why the hell did he make something that stupid?" Louis exclaimed a small smirk on his face as we walked back to the car.
"He must have thought we would forget him after a while," I replied, shrugging my shoulders. Louis laughed.
"That's sad for him... But at least, we can forget him now." And he stepped into the car, in the driver seat.
I didn't open the door straight away, thinking of the words Louis just had spoken. The more time was passing by, the less I understood him and the more he frightened me.
I finally stepped in and he started off, driving fast back home.
And I wasn't in a hurry to get back there. Scarlett would be gone. She had escaped one more time. Thanks to me.
"Everything will be over soon, Liam," Louis growled suddenly, smiling grimly as he looked at the road.
"Yes, it will." I looked through the window, avoiding looking straight at him.
"We have been waiting for that day to come since a while." I nodded.
I didn't reply and tried to concentrate on the city outside. I didn't want to imagine Louis' reaction when he would find only three people in the basement of the house. And I better make as if I didn't know. Otherwise I didn't even want to know what will happen to me.
But the main question remained why did I let her go? I didn't really know the answer myself. I should have shoot her down. I wanted to because I had to. But even though it would only have taken a few seconds, I didn't do anything. Why? I wasn't a coward but I noticed something and I couldn't manage to do so.
She wore Harry's necklace. Stupid, wasn't it? Harry's fucking necklace. I knew she would come back when I saw it around her neck. She would come back to save the three of them. And I did let her go.
I didn't want the guys to be saved! They shouldn't be helped! That was not the way things were supposed to be! Scarlett shouldn't have been there and everything would have been perfect. We would have gotten rid of Niall, Zayn and Harry and it would have been over. Full stop.
But knowing she was innocent stopped me before I could even take my gun out. She wasn't trying to save herself. She was trying to save my old mates and I couldn't stop her doing so. She had nothing to do in that story but she was helping them. And that prevented me from killing her.
But what if she succeeded saving them? I would hate myself, that's all.
"Get out of the car, Liam!" Louis' voice told me and I noticed he had opened the door and was standing in front of me.
"You think too much! Everything will go as we planned it," he patted on my shoulders as I stepped out.
"Yes, you're right. I can't wait for it to be done!" I answered and he chuckled.
We walked into the house and Louis headed straight away for the basement.
"What are you doing?" I asked and he smirked.
"I want to see the fear in their eyes one last time!" And he ran downstairs, not waiting for me to reply.
I didn't move and thought of the old Louis I used to know. When we faked our disappearing two years ago, we felt relieved. To be honest, it has been a good decision to take for the both of us. We lived in a good way for the first months and Louis still was the same. But after a while, he became sad. And one day, he announced me he was going to check how Eleanor was. He followed her without never approaching her and it made him happy. Well, at first it did. Then, he stalked her more often and he came back home angry. The more he was following her, the angrier he became. And he never told me why. I suggested following her for him one day and it didn't help me understand what was wrong with him. When I saw her, she was with a friend and the first thing she did was to break into tears. So when I came back home, Louis didn't believe me and got mad, with no reasons. He stopped stalking her and became colder and colder each day. The old Louis everyone knew disappeared slowly to let the new one got the upper hand. He had become a heartless monster. And no one knew why.
Suddenly, I heard a scream. I rushed down the stairs but bumped into Louis midway.
And what I saw scared me. Jaw clenched, fury was written in his eyes and the vein on his forehead was about to explode. He looked dark and terrifying.
"Who screamed? What happened Louis?" He looked down at the stairs, clenching his fists.
"Louis, answer me. What's wrong down there?" I asked more sharply although I perfectly knew the answer.
"She is gone. Again." I widened my eyes in a fake shocked expression.
"I knew we shouldn't have spared her life!" he yelled with anger. "I told you I should have killed her the first day!" He breathed heavily and walked down the stairs.
"I won't feel pity anymore. I will hunt her down till death." And he went back to the room where the three others were. I rushed after him and closed the door afterwards, leaning against it.
Louis was holding Zayn by his collar and seemed to be about to hit him any moment.
"Stop lying. I want to know what happened," Louis threatened him.
"You shouldn't have gone away." Anger sparkled in Louis' eyes and he threw Zayn on the floor.
But then, Harry made a huge mistake. He walked toward Louis and stopped him as he was about to hit Zayn.
"Get off, Styles. Your turn is coming." He grabbed his Harry's tee-shirt and held him against the wall. Harry was taller than him but Louis looked frightening, leaving Harry unable to make a single move.
"Liam!" Niall yelled my name, surprising me. "Can't you stop Louis?!" I didn't answer nor move. There was no way I could stop him anyway.
"She escaped again, Louis. You know it will cause the end of your plan. That's why you're angry, isn't it?" Harry spoke calmly to Louis. The latter clenched his fist and hit his jaw.
"She made a mistake. She is running to a certain death."
Harry spat blood out of his mouth and laughed.
"She's not. You won't find her."
His sentence made Louis angrier than he already was.
"How can you believe she will come back to save you? You arouse pity, Harry." He held his arm tighter and Harry winced.
Zayn still was lying on the floor and Niall was knelt down beside him, looking up with disgust at Louis. The latter was laughing at Harry.
But suddenly, his laughter died away. Harry seemed taken aback by that sudden change.
"You understood you won't win?" he muttered but Louis started to grin.
"Your necklace is missing. You gave it to her. And now, I know where she is." Niall, Zayn and Harry looked shocked.
Anger appeared in Harry's eyes and he grabbed Louis by his neck.
"You don't know where she is! Don't you dare l..." But the gun pointed at him made him stop yelling at once.
"You are not in the right position to threaten me, Styles. She won't save you. Get that fucking idea out of your head."
"She will, Louis. She will."
I saw Niall silently begging Harry to shut up but Harry didn't seem to care.
"She won't save you if she's dead." Louis may have whispered but his words echoed clearly in the small room. The tension grew.
And Harry did the most unexpected thing ever : he spat at Louis' face.
Louis wiped his face and his fury reached a point so high I didn't know could be possible.
I closed my eyes not to see what he would do next. But I heard the gun shot.
I opened my eyes and felt slightly relieved to see he only had shot beside Harry's feet. How could he still control himself?
Then, he placed his hand around Harry's neck and put the gun against his temple.
Harry breathed with difficulty and Louis heavily. They stared at each other in silence for a few seconds.
I expected to see fear or tears in Harry's eyes as he would beg for mercy but not to see him smirking with confidence.
"What are you waiting for, Louis? Do it. Pull the trigger."
