It's close to lunch by the time I finally make my way downstairs and into the kitchen. All the boys are shuffling around the kitchen. I sit on a stool to wait for them to clear out so I can get to the coffee pot.
"Are you alright? We heard about what happened this morning," Niall asks. His blue eyes blazing at me.
"Yes...", I answer. I wait impatiently as they go about their business. "You know, it's inhumane, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity,”
"Sorry Faith...Here...", Harry laughs, setting a cup down in front of me and pouring.
"The coffee cavalry has arrived... Thank you..."
"You're sure you're okay...", Harry asks again.
"Yes, thanks to the butt faced miscreant over there..." I laugh.
"Butt faced miscreant?", Louis laughs.
"Inside joke...", Zayn smirks. "What time do we have to pick-up Lexi?"
"We don't, she takes the bus home. I just have to walk to the end of the driveway... She's still in school for a couple of hours though..."
"Right, well I think we should start going over a few things...Simon wants you and Alexis to go shopping for some new clothes, ones be-fitting our lifestyle. You also both have appointments at the salon to have your hair done..." Liam blurts out.
"Wait...What? I never said you could do anything to our hair", I snap, suddenly anxious.
"It'll be okay Faith. You and Alexis just need to 'look the part'..." Harry says, putting a hand over mine.
"Okay..." I whisper.
"Eleanor, Dani and Perrie offered to go with you tomorrow morning. They know what you'll need. They'll be here around 9am...", Louis chimes in.
"T-Tomorrow?", I stammer.
"This guy will be here in 2 days...It doesn't give us a whole lot of time...", Niall says.
And so it begins...
"How long have you been married?" Liam quizzes.
"6 months..." I answer
"Where'd you go on your honeymoon?" Louis asks.
"France and Italy..." I answer
"What's your favorite thing about me?" Harry asks.
"Your dimples and green eyes...", I answer and he blushes.
"What time does he come home every night?" Niall asks.
"6 o'clock. He never misses having dinner with Alexis and I..."
"What's my favorite food?" Harry asks.
"Shit, I know this. Lexi mentioned it. Pee pee chicken from Nando's!?", I shout excitedly, snapping my fingers... Everyone laughs.
"No. That's Peri Peri Chicken from Nando's and that's my favorite food...", Niall says, smiling.
"When's his birthday?", Liam asks.
"February 1st 1994... God, I am so 'robbing the cradle'...", I say, shaking my head.
"My full name?", he asks.
"Harry Edward Styles...", I answer. We just started and already I'm exhausted. I glance at Zayn. He hasn't said a word and he looks kind of pissed off. Curious.
"Where was he born?", Louis asks.
"Evesham, Worcestershire, UK..."
"What are the names of his family members?", Niall asks.
"Um, Des, Anne and Gemma..."
"Ok, trick question... How tall am I?"
"He is not going to ask me that!?", I say, laughing.
"He might...", Harry chuckles.
"Take a guess...", Harry says.
"okay...umm...I'm 5ft 6in so you are...5ft 9in?", I guess, scrunching my nose.
"Close...I'm 5ft 10in and I love it when you scrunch your nose...", Harry chuckles. My face flushes an embarrassing shade of red as I drop my gaze towards the floor and take a drink from my coffee. "Oh, by the way...here..,", he says, taking out a little box and handing it to me. A small gasp escapes my mouth when I open it and see 2 rings inside. One is a beautiful large diamond and the other a simple band. I can feel the color drain from my face.
"I-I can't wear this...", I whisper.
"Why, we have to have rings, we're married...", Harry says.
"What if something happens to it? What if I lose it? What if I take it off, to like, I don't know, do the dishes, and it falls on the floor and dog eats it?!", I ramble, wide eyed.
"Faith...Drink. Coffee. Breath...We don't have a dog...", Louis smirks, grasping my shoulders and giving me a shake.
"You can get some really nice rings in those quarter machines at the mall...", I argue, and they all laugh. Louis grabs my cup and waves in under my nose. I inhale deeply, grasp the cup shakily from his hands and take a big gulp. "Ok, I'm ok..."
"Let's do this poo...", Harry says, taking the rings out of the box and holding out his hand for mine.
"Really, you couldn't of come up with anything better to say at this particular moment than 'Let's do this poo?'...", I tease, setting down my mug and giving him my hand.
"Dum, dum da dum, dum dum da dum, dum dum da dum dum dum dum dum da dum,,,", Louis and Liam sing the wedding march as Harry slips the rings on my finger. I pull my hand back and gaze at the rings, feeling suddenly, overwhelmed and claustrophobic.
"I need some air...", I say, springing from my stool, grabbing my coat and heading outside.
I stroll around the grounds taking in the view, trying to clear my head. "You're really saving our necks by doing this...", Harry says from behind me.
"You're necks are not really my concern. I have plans for that money... I have a daughter to support and no way to do it..." I mumble.
"What about school?", Harry asks.
"I got pregnant when I was 16, and had Alexis. My parents kicked me out, Ben left and everything changed... Everything is for her now."
"I'm sorry..." Harry says.
"Don't be... Maybe this is the opportunity I need to make things better for us...for her..."
"Faith, there's something we should probably get out of the way now while we're alone...Since we're going to be married and everything, I think I should kiss you...just so it's believable later... Are you okay with that?", Harry asks.
"I-I don't know...", I stammer, taken by surprise.
"Okay?", he questions again.
"That's not okay...", he observes.
"That's okay with an 'ish' at the end," I explain.
"Whatever you say..." he chuckles, shaking his head. He stands quiet looking at me for a minute, his green eyes flickering between my eyes and lips, then he takes a step towards me. I shift away from him, uncomfortably.
"I-I don't think I'm rea..." I start to say before he cuts me off.
"Stand still...", he says, grasping the sides of my face with his hands and pushing his lips against mine. It's a sweet and simple kiss. It only lasts a fleeting moment before he pulls away, leaving us both breathless.
"Oh my god, oh my god...", I panic, backing up.
"Don't. Don't say a word. I can't do this Harry... I'm not the right girl for this. Here... I have to go...", I say, taking the rings off my finger, putting them into his hand and running back towards the house.
