My name is Van.
Hi, I am Vanessa Cattari, and this fall I will be admitted to Hogwarts. I've heard many exciting stories of the school, so I can't wait until September!
I live three miles away from St. Ottery Catchpole, a small muggle village. Close by are the Weasleys, the Lovegoods, and the Malfoys. The Malfoys absolutely HATE the Weasleys, but luckily they live on the opposite sides of each other.
Luna, the Weasley children, and Draco are my friends. We all get along 'surprisingly well' according to my mother. Except for Draco and the Weasleys. They simply CAN'T stand each other. Luna is my absolute best friend, we met at age three and couldn't get enough of each other. Draco is next, though he can get arrogant and snooty, sometimes. Actually, a lot of times. Luna and I have to manage, though, because he's the closest one around. The Weasley children- that's Ron, Ginny, Fred and George (the twins), Percy, Charlie, and Bill- are all very friendly, and we hang out a lot, but they do live a teensy bit far.
I live in Cattari Manor, which is the exact contrast to Malfoy Manor. Though Cattari Manor is big, it is warmly lit, and very warm, woody, and rustic. Not to mention charmed against muggles; but then again, aren't all wizard houses?
Anyway, Luna, Ginny, and I were looking for Freshwater Plimpies in the brook that separated our houses (the guys were having 'guy time'- AKA Quidditch practices), when we saw a tawny owl that reminded me very much of Lynnst, my own owl. It was weighed down with two thick packages with wax seals on them, and started flapping increasingly harder upon seeing us.
"Oh, Oh! Look! It's an owl! Did any of you write anywhere recently?"
"No," I whispered, squinting trying to get a better look. "But I was going to be admitted to Hogwarts this year."
Ginny made a noise like 'uurrgh' and stamped her foot in the mud so it splashed a bit. "I keep forgetting you're a whole year older! I want to go to Hogwarts sooo badly!"
"Yes." Came Luna's serene voice. "But don't worry, because I'm staying back this year too. Remember? I'm the same age as you."
"Yeah, yeah," Ginny cried impatiently. "But my brothers torment me about it- always telling me about every single thing that's fun, like wizard crackers, and Christmas, but the know-"
"Wait." I observed suddenly. "That owl is carrying two letters, but only I'm going to Hogwarts."
