~~“Hey guys!” someone yells from behind me. I am so startled that I let out a squeal and the guitar that I am holding falls towards the ground. I am sitting on a recording stool so it is pretty high, a fall that probably would have broken the guitar or at least scratched it.
We all watch as it falls, everyone frozen. I brace myself for the impact, but Lou’s hand shoots out and catches it at the last second.
“Oh, gosh… that was terrifying.” Niall says, relief shining through his thick accent. I grab the guitar from Lou, sending him a huge and grateful smile.
“Thank you so much Lou. That was terrifying.” He just nods and smiles, leaning back into the couch cushions of the couch he is sitting on across from me.
Simon just shakes his head quickly and begins talking excitedly about living arrangements. Apparently our parents will be staying in a different hotel then us, just to give us time to bond as a group. I zone him out once the conversation gets boring… haha
IT’S FIVE OCLOCK IN THE MORNING… CONVERSATION GOT BORING… SAID YOUR GOING TO BED SOON… SO I SNUCK OFF TO YOUR BEDROOM… I hum along to the song in my head as I pull out my phone. It buzzes, letting me know I have a new text message.
Ooh, a group message! I love those! Oh… it’s just Leena and Gia. Boring… I mean, they’re right across the room from me.
LEENA: OMG HE WAS TOTALLY STARING AT YOU, THAT’S HOW HE KNEW YOU WERE ABOUT TO DROP IT. HE IS SO INTO YOU!
ME: COME ON GUYS, GIVE IT A BREAK. I ALREADY DISCUSSED THIS WITH HIM AND… IDK HE’S NOT OVER ELENORE AND I DON’T WANNA B A REBOUND GIRL.
GIA: BUT YOU GUYS ARE LIKE THE SAME PERSON. YOU NEED TO JUST ACCEPT YOU GUYS R PERF FOR EACH OTHER AND TOTALLY HOOK UP!
ME: GIA! I THOUGHT YOU WERE THE SHY ONE! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE AGREEIN WITH LEENA ON THIS ONE!
I look up at the girls who are sitting on the opposite side of the room and see Leena throw a wink at me while Gia gliggles and gives me a smile.
Faking hurt, I put my hand over my heart and pretend to be dead for a minute.
Leena bows me a kiss and I catch it, throw it to the ground and jump up before stomping on it and doing a dance on top of the fake kiss. When I am satisfied that I got my point across, I look up and see everyone staring at me.
“Nice dance, Little Si. Were you listening at all?” Simon says.
“Ummmm… well, about that… It was their fault!” I yell and point an accusing finger at Leena and Gia. Everyone turns to look at them and I drop my guitar to the floor, carefully, and duck behind the little couch.
“Hey! Where’d she go?” I hear Niall yell and I try ot hold back my giggle.
I peek my head over the back of the sofa carefully but nobody notices me except Lou. He is sittin on the couch right next to where I popped up so he gives me a smile and says, “Nice defense skills, Carrot Buddy. But you are about to be found out.”
“Wait, by who?”
“ME!” He reaches over the couch and grabs my waist before hauling me over the back of it and sitting me in his lap. I struggle, but he just wraps his arms around me and holds me until I go still. Instead of fighting it, I just snuggle back into his chest and look at Simon with innocent eyes.
“Anyways…” he says, giving me a look, “You will be staying in a hotel until we can find an apartment big enough for all of you. Your bags have already been sent, so you just have to go hop into the car and get on your way.”
“OH, and Liam is incharge.” He says, before walking out.
Louis stands up, sending me toppling to the floor, before grabbing me and swinging me onto his back. “To the car!” He shouts before running down the hallway and pressing the elevator button repeatedly.
When we reach the lobby, Liam makes us all wait right outside the elevator. We all huddle up and he stands in the middle.
“Okay, boys. You all need to pick a girl and stick with her. The pap’s have shown up and, I am assuming that none of them are really all that ready for this yet. Just get them to the car safely and them you can sign some autographs if you want to.”
Zayn grabs Gia’s hand, Harry stands really close to Leena with Liam, And Ni and Lou each wrap an arm around my shoulders.
“LETS GO!” he shouts and we all head to the doors.
As soon as I open the door, I hear screaming. Girls crowd the exit and are being herded back by gates and security. I get over my shyness and give a little wave. They start to scream my name. How do they know my name?!
I see Gia shaking in fear and Zayn whispering to her while dragging her frozen body to the car. Leena has her head down and is laughing at Harry while Liam leads them to the same limo. I head in that direction, but a little girl grabs my attention. She is pushed right up and the fence and is just watching me. not screaming or jumping around, just smiling as she watches me.
I giver her a small wave and her smile gets so big. Instead of continuing to the car, I shake the boys off and walk over to her. The fans behind her keep screaming, but I just crouch down in front of her. She is young, probably around six or seven.
“Whats your name?” I ask loudly, hoping she can hear me above the screams.
“Katie!” she yells, before putting her hands on top of the gate so that she can see all the way over it.
“Well, I am Sierra. Do you like to sing?” I ask her, trying to have a conversation.
She nods enthusiastically and I say, “Me too. Who’s your favorite singer?”
She looks around and her eyes light up when she sees who she is looking for. She points behind me and I turn my head to see her pointing at Lou, who is signing autographs across the cleared space. I turn back to Katie and tell her that I will be right back. Going over to Louis, I grab his arm and pull him after me, back to the girl.
When we get there, he looks confused but when I point to Katie, he smiles and gets onto his knees in front of her while saying hello. She lets out a squeal and we laugh.
“Louis, you’re my favorite!” She says.
“Yeah? Well, I am proud to be your favorite.” He replies while smiling his most amazing smile… wow, did I really think that???
SHUT UP BRAIN, NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR YOU TO MAKE AN APPEARANCE.
Wait a minute…
My brain is always here.
Because I know that I can count on him… cause I can count on you like 4, 3, 2, and you’ll be there… cause that’s what brains are supposed to do, oh yeah.
I tune back into the conversation and hear her compliment the yarn bracelet that he has on his wrist. He looks at it for a moment and them unwinds it before placing it on hers and tying it for her. She grins real wide and we wave goodbye to her before sliding into the limo.
“Good job, you’re a natural at dealing with fans. You didn’t look nervous at all.” Liam says.
“They are just there to show their support. I can’t be afraid of the fans because, if we never interact with them, they might stop liking us. And if they wait outside a building for hours, the least we can do is say hi.” I say.
Louis laughs loudly and wraps an arm around my waist, pulling me into his side, where I fit perfectly. “The first time I met the fans, they terrified me to no end.”
“Oh, for sure they are terrifying, but I just won’t let them know that.” I say quickly.
He laughs loudly and swipes his hand down his face, in a motion of exhaustion. All of the others are passed out, sprawled along the seats of the limo. I snuggle up to Lou and take his hand, playing with his thin fingers. I can feel him watching me, but I just keep my eyes on his hand as I try to make sense of the emotions he makes me feel.
“Hey, why did you give her your bracelet?” I ask him. The way that he looked at it for a moment and hesitated giving it to her, it must have been important.
“Oh, um. Well, that’s how I met El. She was working at this carnival game and I won it.” HE smiles sadly and looks at his empty wrist. Then he gives me a long look from behind his long lashes. “But, I think it’s time to get rid of it. It’s time to move on.”
I smile slightly, looking at my lap. Harry’s head is on my lap and Niall’s feet are laying across Lou and rest right next to Harry’s face. I brush some hair out of Harry’s face and smile at the boys fondly.
I’ve only known them for a few hours and, already, I feel like a protective mum. Well, Liam has his moments but, honestly, he is just as childish as them.
Lou’s hand turns mine over and he intertwines our fingers, giving me a bright smile before bringing my head to his shoulder and wrapping his other arm around me even tighter than before. His lips press to the top of my head in a light kiss and then he rests his cheek there, his snores quickly mingling with the other boy’s. I begin to nod off along with him and smile. This is my new family.
They can’t replace my mom and Jake, but they can fill a part of me that is just for them. Them and my dad are all that I need.
