This theory was brought up by Flora, someone I RP with.
I am quite surprised you're reading any chapter by me. Especially after the sleep-deprived craziness that was the end of the plothole thing. That even scared me.
Anyway, my friend and I were Kikking, and she just brought up Soos.
"I dunno. Soos just reminds me of a lab experiment gone wrong. I mean the teeth. He looks like a lab rat."
Time for me to build off of that. I can't possibly leave it at that.
Here's the thing. This theory ties into The Secret of NIMH. I need to explain using quotes from the movie, because not everyone knows this movie.
[Nicodemus points toward a familiar devise in the corner. Two circles of metal set at right angles to form a rough globe. The circles begin to spin, faster and faster as energy plays across the surface of the globe. The glowing green sphere shows images as Nicodemus narrates.]
NICODEMUS (offscreen): "In the beginning, we were ordinary street rats, stealing our daily bread and living off the efforts of man's work. We were captured, put in cages, and sent to a place called NIMH. There were many animals there... in cages. They were put through the most unspeakable tortures to satisfy some scientific curiosity. Often at night, I would hear them, crying out in anguish. Twenty rats and eleven mice were given injections... Our world began changing..."
[Cue nightmarish images of the rats and mice, writhing in pain as their DNA twists and explodes.]
NICODEMUS (offscreen): "Then one night, I looked upon the words under the cage door... and understood them. We had become intelligent. We could read."
[There is a sign, reading "TO OPEN DOOR, LIFT LATCH." A rat's hand reaches out of the cage and raises the latch. The door swings open. Soon, all the rats and mice are doing the same and escaping from their cages.]
NICODEMUS (offscreen): "The miracle was kept from the scientists, and in the quiet of the night, we escaped through the ventilation system. The mice where blown away, sucked down air shafts to their deaths. All except two... Jonathan and Mister Ages. We were trapped by a locked door on the roof. It was Jonathan who made possible the unlocking of the door."
[Jonathan wriggles through a wire cove over the end of the air duct. The cover falls free, and Jonathan is sitting on top, looking very pleased with himself. Mrs. Brisby sighs as the image of him fades.]
Basically, there were rats taken off the streets by scientists. They were made intelligent and escaped. Perhaps one of those rats became so intelligent that he spawned into what we know know as Soos.
Soos acts dumb, but he's actually an Einstein. It's a cover-up. Would you expect him to be a genius? Or a rat?
No. You wouldn't.
Remember this bit from "Dreamscapers" before you disregard this. Remember what Bill, the ALL-KNOWING dream demon, said:
"You know, I've been impressed with you guys. You are more clever than you look. Especially the fat one."
