I Fell In Love With The Boy Across The Aisle
10 Years Before
Two years later after Jade admitted her feelings for Harry, they've stayed the same. She still has the same "butterflies" in her stomach and just swoons anytime she sees him. It's been getting annoying to be quite frank. Now that I know the truth about her and her "feelings" for him, she can't seem to leave me alone. She knows that I go everywhere with him so, all she does is tag along, like its not big deal. But, to me its a big deal. Harry is MY best friend and I will always be his NUMBER ONE! Right?
"Paulina! Harry! Wait up!" Jade voice calls from behind us
I mentally roll my eyes as I turn to look at Harry who had a cheeky smile on his face. He never mined that Jade did everything with us, he was practically clueless that she fancied him. Harry was good looking, I'll give you that. But, never in a MILLION YEARS would I EVER and I repeat, EVER, go out with him. We are best friends nothing else. Even our parents joke around how we are gonna find out later in life that we are in love, like in those romance novels. But, we just laugh it off. Best friends for life and nothing else.
"Hey Jade." Harry said casually, his dimples deepen
Even though Harry was only fourteen now, his voice has gotten loads deeper. It is pretty much all husky and low.
"Hey Harry..." she said all high pitched, making me mentally gag as she twirled a piece of her hair between her fingers
"Whats up?" Harry ask, trying to start a conversation
"Nothing much. So...what are you and Paulina doing?" she smiled weirdly at the curly haired boy
"Uh..nothing we were going to uh this place...." Harry said, making eye contact with me- his emerald eyes piercing into my blue ones-
We were going to our tree house but, its not like we're gonna tell her. It's our place and no one else's.
"Oh cool! Can I come?" she bats her eyelashes towards my best friend
"Um...no I don't think that's a good idea." he stutters, looking into Jade's eyes
"Oh come on! It'll be fun!" she winks her right eye and continues to bat her lashes
"Umm... Jade?" he asks
"Ya?" she says, continuing her actions
"Is there something in your eye?"
A frown takes over her face as a smile takes over on mine. It took all my strength not to laugh at my embarrassed friends face.
"N-no." she stutters
"I..um..I have to go." she manages to say before running off into the opposite direction
"Well that was weird." I manage to say without laughing
"Ya." Harry says as he starts walking again, and I follow behind him
"I'm pretty sure she had something in her eye though." Harry continues
I couldn't help but let out a quick laugh.
"You got a lot to learn about ladies, Harry. A lot more." I sigh before grabbing his hand, leading him the way to our tree house
<1 WEEK LATER>
Something is up, with Harry. He's changed the past week. Not like seven years ago, before we became best friends and he started ignoring me, no. It's just that I feel like he's hiding something. I mean I've known him for so many years that I should be able to tell when he's hiding something from me and this week is that feeling. He's hiding something from me and I'm gonna find out what it is.
I lay there on top of my bed staring at my ceiling watching the fan turn while I think about what Harry could be hiding. Honestly, I couldn't think of anything bad that he could have done. It just doesn't cross my mind that he can do that. So, without thinking- I grab my cheap phone and send him a quick text.
Meet me @ tree house in 5. We need to talk :P
Grabbing my converse from my closet, I run down the stairs and through the front door. I knew he was gonna read the message in a couple of seconds so I went to the tree house without waiting for him, trying to collect my words before confronting him.
"Paulina?" Harry's voice fills the tree house
"In the corner." I answer simply as I flip a page of the first book of Harry Potter
Loud footsteps make their way towards me before I felt the end of the beanbag chair dipping. Messy curls caught my eye as I close the book and make eye contact with my best friend.
"You wanted to talk?" curiosity fills his face
"Ya...." I say, shifting uncomfortably in the beanbag chair
Harry nods for me to continue. I had three minutes to collect my words and I did. Taking a deep breath, I start. "Harry, I know you so well and I know that you are hiding something from me. Just spit it out. You are my best friend and you can tell me anything!"
Harry's eyes burn into mine as I watch him take his hand and let his fingers comb through his curls. He was thinking, after all the years I've gotten to known him I know all of his habits. He takes a quick breath before answering. "Yes, yes I have." he says, continuing to rake his hair with his long fingers
"Well....spit it out."
"I um- well Paulina." he continues
"This might be kinda awkward for you...I don't know..."he pulls a little on his hair
"HARRY!" I shout
"Fine!" he exclaims
"I'm g-afkjfkaf" he mumbles the last part
"Harry...." my eyes becoming slits
"Tell me now." I demand
"Fine." he sighs
"Harry I swear to god if yo-" I was cut off by him shouting six words I never thought I would hear him say
"I HAVE A DATE WITH JADE."
