Elsa didn't care if she was ruining Dylan's life. Things were getting worse. Danny was getting out of control. Dylan and Elise liked each other... She knew it... Danny was really angry about it. For now, she will have to close the gates. Then, she remembered about being locked up in her room, having nothing to do but be scared of herself. Now, she knew how her parents felt.
They didn't want to lock her up, they just didn't have a choice. Dylan easily lost control of his power whenever he was mad. He could kill everyone that he gets angry at. For now, he would have to learn to control it.
Elsa ordered a maid, "Take Dylan to his room and wash him up. Put him in bed and lock the door for now."
Elsa walked towards Dylan.
"Dylan, follow me."
Dylan looked scared and afraid. He stared at his hands and then down at the ground and followed his mother into the castle. El, who was playing with her dolls, ran towards him. She looked confused and worried.
"What's happening? Can someone tell me?"
Elsa told her, "Get back into the castle, El. Go to your room for now."
El didn't seem to understand what was happening. But she ran back into the castle. She could tell that her mother was really angry.
After Eric closed the gates, he went into Dylan's room. Dylan was there, looking mad and sad at the same time. Eric closed the door and sat down next to Dylan. He pretended that he didn't see his father.
"Hi, Dylan... Can I talk with you for a moment?"
Dylan said, "Not the right time, Dad. I'm not exactly in the best mood."
Eric looked down at his feet.
"Dylan, your mother's just really upset right now. Things have really been rocky between you and Danny... She doesn't know how to fix things up... She keeps blaming it on herself."
Dylan said, "Danny doesn't like my anymore, Dad... He hates me... It's not my fault I get all this attention and that Elise likes me... I miss those times when we used to be best friends... He tries to avoid me every time I try to talk to him and he doesn't let me even have friends. You've seen what happened with Elise... He called me a freak and he punched me... He's not the same as before... I wish everything would be the same as before. It's not fair."
"I wish I can fix everything up, Dylan... But I don't think it's possible at the moment..."
Dylan sighed, too.
"I know, Dad... Is Mom really mad at me?"
Eric told him, "Not really.... She has your powers, remember? She must've gone through something like this at least once..."
Suddenly, Elsa came into the room.
"I need to talk to you, Eric. C'mon..."
Eric stood up and walked out of the room. Elsa closed the door behind her. Dylan sat inside his room, staring at his hands. Was he really a freak? Did Elise hate him now? He had a lot of questions in his mind at the moment. He wasn't sure if he'd ever get all the answers to them.
Danny stared outside the window. The sun was shining and butterflies were everywhere.
He murmured, "It's not fair..."
Then, he remembered when he was four... He used to play with Dylan all the time then...
"Psst! Dylan! Wake up!"
Dylan murmured, "Danny, it's four in the morning... Go back to sleep..."
Danny started to tickle Dylan.
"Dylan! I can't! Mom made me go to sleep too early yesterday! I can't go to sleep! Besides, I can see the sun! That means it's morning! So we have to play!"
Dylan used his pillow to protect himself from Danny's tickling.
"Go play by yourself then..."
Danny whispered, "It's too hot... I need to play in the snow!"
Dylan stood up.
"Yeah, I'm pretty hot... Let's go!"
That was how they usually started their days... Playing in the snow... But as they got older, they started to not play together. Danny was pretty sick of how special Dylan was. He could make clothes out of ice and he could walk across a pond. But he was just normal.
He murmured, "Why can't I be like him? Why can't we be the same at everything? I don't want to be different..."
He knew that his mom said that he and Dylan looked exactly alike and that she loved them both very much. But Dylan was more handsome than him... He had dark brown hair and brown eyes, but Dylan had beautiful platinum-blonde hair and blue eyes... He was better than him. His mom must like Dylan more than him.
Danny looked out at the yard. It was green with some trees and some toys. He could see faint images of him playing with Dylan... But he couldn't forgive Dylan... He wasn't little now. He wanted attention and he wanted to be loved.
He didn't want to be just Dylan's twin...
Elsa dragged Eric into their room. Eric had been talking with Dylan before... She wondered what they were talking about. She closed the door behind them. Eric sat down at a chair. Elsa crossed her arms.
"I don't know what to do about this Dylan and Danny problem.. Do you have any ideas? I don't want to lock them up, just like my parents did to me, but I don't want them to be fighting so much... And did you see how Dylan nearly froze Danny without even noticing it? He loses control of his power too easily..."
Eric said, "You told me that the power was hard to control and that emotions were very effective. We can't really control his emotions... Anyway, everyone has to have emotions... Dylan's a lovely boy. Why can't we just let him be?"
Elsa shook his head.
"Don't you understand? Danny... He's part of this problem... A big part. If we don't fix this problem soon, when we die, Danny and Dylan might try to kill each other... Did you see how angry Danny was? I'm afraid, Eric... I knew something like this would happen..."
Eric stood up and walked towards Elsa and kissed her. He stared into her icy-blue eyes and put his hands on her cheeks.
"Don't be... You're their mother... Be a good example.... Everything would work out. But until we find a solution for Danny and Dylan, we'll have to keep the gates closed."
Suddenly, Anna burst into the room. She looked scared and worried.
"You can't, Elsa! You're doing the same thing that our parents did when we were young! Just let Dylan be himself! He'll start hating himself... Please, Elsa..."
Elsa said, "We're not going to close the gates forever, Anna... We'll open them again... When we have a solution to this problem."
Anna started to cry as she shook her head.
"Elsa... We may never find a solution... We may keep the gates closed forever..."
Elsa shook her head.
"I can't open them again for now... We'll have to wait until Dylan and Danny calm down..."
Then, she walked out of the room. Anna and Eric stood there, awkwardly.
