-(September 24, 2000)-
"I got to go now Sam." I yelled across the football field. I waved goodbye as he continued to take pictures for the yearbook. I left the field as I made my way back home were my mother and father was. Next month is my birthday and I am so excited. I never celebrated it in Canada's Wonderland, as what my father had promised. Thinking about the thought made me want to run as fast as I could to get home. As I continued to run, I stumbled upon a rock and almost tripped. This is me. Clumsy me, I always find myself to fall because of one tiny little thing. That's why i don't really join any sports, especially track and field. No way.
I continued my way home until I had arrive to my destination, I opened and closed the gate of the front of the house and ran up the patio stairs. I took my keys out and opened the door.
"No you listen to me, we promised to do this for him." I heard my father yell slightly making my eye twitch. My smile began to deform to a frown as I slowly closed the door. I removed my shoes as I heard my mom yell back.
"Can you please understand that I can't. After everything we have done on this very planet, you just want to let go. Can't you see that I love..." I entered the living room, having my mom to stop at mid-sentence. They both stared at me.
"Mom, Dad. What are you two arguing about?" I asked. They both looked at each other with a blank expression on their faces as I removed my backpack and placed it on the floor near the staircase. Once I looked back up to face them, my dad was about to say something but my mother cut him off.
"We were discussing about putting Sarafina up for adoption." My mom spoke first. I peered over to my dad who was nodding his head. I frowned. Is this what this is all about. They both acted like they just did something that could end them up in jail.
"Unless you don't want to sweetie." She added before I could make up my mind. I was relief that they were asking me first. I mean, I am Sarafina's owner. I looked down to the ground and shook my head.
"No... Why would you even put her up for adoption? What's the problem?" I questioned. My mother went in and mumbled something but I couldn't make it clear enough. She is nervous, I can tell as she began to bite her bottom lip.
"I-" My mom started.
"Your mother and I had a promotion at the office this morning, and since you are too busy with school. No one is here to look after Sarafina, especially when nobody is home." My father explained. My mother nodded her head like what my father just had done. I could see my mother's lips quivering and my fathers eyes looking at the plain white wall.
"Why are you both acting so weird?" I inquire. Even though we are all just talking about Sarafina, it felt like there was something else they were afraid nor worried about.
"We're just a little bit tired today Charmine." My father lazily said as he sat on the couch. I sighed as I grabbed my backpack and slowly walked up the staircase.
"Honey, where are you going?" My mom spoke breaking the awkward silence between us, between this family. As I continued walking up the stairs, I responded.
"I'm going to go to my room." She smiled at me but her face looked like she regretted it. As soon as I got up to my room, I opened the door finding Sarafina on my bed. I smiled at the sleepy dog laying on my bed. I dropped my bag near the corner of my bed.
"Sarafina?" I proclaimed. she jumped off the bed and ran over to me, I grabbed her into my arms as I began to stroke her with silky fur.
"Have you been a good girl while I was gone." I patted her head as I closed my door, using my foot. I walked over to my bed and sat down.
"Don't worry, I won't let them take you away from me. Your my only best friend." I smiled. Sarafina barked at me then she began to lick my hand. I love it when she does that.
"Today's been a long day, mom and dad were fighting about something and I don't think they were telling the truth. They wouldn't lie to me, would they?" I confessed. If its true that my mom and dad were lying to me, I wouldn't expect it to be the first time. Well it is the first time I should mention. But why lie now, I haven't done anything bad or stupid lately. Was it because my birthday was just right around the corner? Now I feel stupid.
"No you listen to me, we promised to do this for him." I heard my father yell.
"Can you please understand that I can't. After everything we have done on this very planet, you just want to let go. Can't you see that I love..."
What did they mean? What did my parents promise? but most importantly, to who? Why did I even barged into the room, if it weren't for me, she couldn't have finished her sentence. My mom was saying something about loving something but she couldn't finish it when she saw me. Why is this so complicated. I sighed as I placed Sarafina down onto the ground and grabbed my laptop that was in my backpack. I turned it on and opened up Google Chrome. When the page was fully loaded, I began to type
onto the search bar and hit enter. I decided to let the stress flow by reading some articles about the news today or something. The page had appeared and I clicked on the tab that says 'News Today'. I really want to see whats going on out in the world today. When the page was finally done loading, I came across a interesting video and an article that was titled 'Mysterious Disappearance'. I scrunched up my nose and clicked on it. When I had read the article, I started to get a headache.
'This crime has been going in now for weeks now and we still don't know who is responsible for this. Already 3 Teenage girls have suddenly disappeared while walking through Jones Park. Police had searched ever part of the park and have found no evidence from each and one of these girls. Jones park is now on lock down and we wish that no one comes near it. People say they have seen people in black hoodies and in blue denim jeans walking past there everyday. We don't know who this person is or if he or she is alone. Who will be the next victim?.'
I have been reading the same article over and over again every week. Well not same article but the same topic. I scrolled down the page and found the names of the 3 victims.
1. Lillia Marisol
2. Noelle Narcissa
3. Cerelia May
Last week, we had Lillia Marisol and Noelle Narcissa, but now we have somebody new, Cerelia May. I never heard of these people before but all I know is that I hope the police could find them. Jones park was my favourite childhood playground. Father would always bring me there and push me on the swing set. There was this one time when I saw this boy that looked a little bit older then me, I think 1 or 2 years older.
"Daddy. I'm going to the sandbox." I giggled as I ran to the sandbox.
"Ok have fun, I'll just be right here if you need me." He yelled back. I went up to the sandbox and flopped down onto my bottom, feeling the warm sand on my bum. I took a shovel and a toy truck.
"Broom....... honk honk honk." I started to make noises as I began to play with the truck and shovel. As soon as I could pour some sand into the bucket, a boy came to me.
"Can I play with you?" he asked. I looked around and nodded, he smiled.
"Sure here." I said in a high pitch voice. He laughed as he fell down on the sand while I gave him the toy truck. We began to play and pour more sand into the bucket. I looked over to him, he had pure green eyes and brown hair, his hair was naturally straight but at the sides, there were little tiny curls but they weren't that noticeable. He looked very happy all the time. As soon as I was about to take my shovel and bury it into the sand. A lady called out.
"Hazza! Time to go." I heard a lady call out, I looked over to the fields and found a lady carrying a Jacket and a water bottle. The boy name Hazza ran off and waved goodbye to me. I waved back and watched him leave with his mom.
"Ready kiddo?" I heard someone behind me say. I moved my head backwards making my hair fall down. I found my dad holding out my jacket and his newspaper in his hand. I got up the sandbox and wiped the sand off my red dress.
"Yup." I replied. I jumped off the ledge of the sandbox and grabbed my dad's hand. We started to walk as my dad asked me questions about the kid name Hazza. Asking them were hard but as soon as I answered them, the sooner we got home for lunch.
"Hazza?" I sighed to myself. What a weird name. I became concerned as I typed the name Hazza onto the google search bar and licked on search. It was funny to find all kinds of links towards the name Hazza but this particular one just caught my eye, it was just a joke but I didn't really know that there was really an article about him. As I clicked on it finding the same news article from NewsToGo.net. I scrolled down to find another article about a boy name 'Hazza Milward'.
'On March 23 2008, a boy name Hazza Milward has disappeared after attending a birthday party at Jones park. The birthday party has been celebrated by a girl name Clementine Riley who was turning 14 years old. Clearly Hazza is around the same age as her and was recalled as her classmate.
Hazza was spotted missing when he was chosen to burst open the piñata but he never came when he was called. The last time he was seen was when he was playing soccer with his friends down at the field, it was probably a estimate that he had disappeared around 3:22 PM. He was wearing a light yellow shirt and jeans, he has green eyes and has straight brown hair. If anyone has seen this boy, please call 1800- Find-Me or email us at HelpSupport@FindMe.com'
Oh my god, I know him.....
