Chapter 40 (Costumes)
"Selena come on, it will be fun!" Demi announced excitedly.
"No." I groaned as she began to jump up and down.
"Pleasee" She begged holding the 'e' longer. I stood up from my bed and went over to my mirror.
"Demi you know I can't celebrate Halloween without Harry. Harry is the ween in Halloween so if Harry is not here, its only Hallo." I explained as I took out my makeup kit. I unzipped the bag and took out my eye shadow palette.
"Fine. Selena will you come with me to find our Hallo costumes." She said in a low tone. She sounded bored to me until she smiled. I applied some gold eye shadow on and curled my lashes.
"Oops. Sorry i forgot to laugh." I said sarcastically as I applied mascara and put my makeup kit away. She frowned making me feel guilty. She then turned around ready to walk out of the room.
"Wait." I alerted her. She stopped her tracks and turned around, facing me.
"I won't let my problems affect you and Halloween." I agreed. She began to smile widley making me giggle as she ran to me giving me a hug.
"Finally, took you that long to realize." She said as she pulled away from the hug.
"I guess your denying my decision?" I smirked at her. She rolled her eyes playfully, she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of my room.
"Come on, if we don't hurry the stores will close leaving us naked during Halloween and the party." She explained. I nodded at her but changed it into a confused look. We began to walk downstairs to the garage. Demi grabbing her keys and purse, we then strolled to our car.
"I thought you didn't want to go to that party. You hate Justin." I said confused. She unlocked the car and went inside. I followed her still waiting for my answer.
"Well since we don't have anything exciting to do, We can make an exception to this." She smiled as she turned the ignition on. I laughed as I buckled my seat belt. This is the part when we are racing to the mall, since it is 5:12 PM. The mall closes at 7:30 PM and Halloween is right down the corner. As soon as we got to the mall, I rushed out of the car.
"Come on Demi! It's about to close in half an hour." I reminded her. She quickly closed her car door and locked the vehicle. W both ran inside the mall breathing in the air that should smell like a mall.
"Where should we go?" I asked. Demi went over to the directory stand and picked up and map. I watched her unfold it.
"Lets.....go to..... The Party Bazaar?" She ended. Uh? Never heard of that store before.
"What? I never heard of that store before." I said. She smiled.
"Well this is Los Angeles. There's alot of things we don't know. Come on." She said as she grabbed my hand. We began to run east to the never before heard store. Once we got there, the front of the store was filled with all kinds of costumes. I glanced around looking at each different costume that looked so so, amazing.
"Selena! Over here!." I heard Demi yelled. I peered over to her. As I walked up to her, I noticed she was holding a costume that I wouldn't want to wear.
"This would look perfect for the party on Friday." she said excitedly as she hung the costume in front of me. I groaned.
"Demi. Really? You really expect me to wear this to the party?" I frowned at her. She gave me a small smile as she put the costume back onto the rack.
"Well Yeah. I guess I thought you would." She admit. I giggled.
"Look. A Skittles costume. Demi....." I whined. She laughed as I groaned and walked away.
"Fine Fine. Will look for something else." She gave up. I smiled and gave her a thumbs up as I began to walk around the store. There were so many things to choose from. As I got to the accessories, I pulled out a hat and some glasses from a bucket and wore them. I walked over to the mirror and began posing for some awkward reason. I began to laugh. I removed the glasses and the hat and placed it back to were I got it from until a scary mask had popped up in front of me.
"Jesus Christ!" I yelled as I placed my hand onto my heart. The person began to remove the mask revealing Demi who was laughing her head off.
"Demi!" I laughed as I punched her shoulder lightly but hard. She almost gave me a heart attack.
"What? I just wanted to show you this. I think you should wear this for the party on-"
"Nope. I would never in a million years. Now can you just, its just creepy. If I wore that to the party, nobody would even bother to talk or hang out with me." I explained.
"At least you have me." She pointed out. Still I just don't like the ask. As much as I love to scare the crap out of other people, I'm just too afraid that I might scare myself also.
"Demi....." I groaned.
"Fine. Fine. I'll find something else." She said as she ran off to were she got that nasty thing. I laughed as I followed Demi until I found something very familiar. As I backpedaled back to my original spot, I could feel my eyes water.
"Harry!" I yelled as I pulled out my guns.
"Boom boom! Pow Pow!" I shouted. I began pointing out my fake guns in front of me, waiting for my enemy.
"Come out Come out where ever you are Haz." I called out. I could hear nothing or see anything from the distance I am in. I began to walk to the couch until I heard a click.
"Your not going anywhere cowgirl." I heard a voice call out behind me. I turned around with my face all serious. I stared at the boy 10 inches from me. I placed my guns back into my belt and steadied myself.
"We meet again in the battle field Selena or should I say, Co-Sel." He spoke in a low pitch voice. I smirked.
"Were you the one who stole one of my rainbow chocolate chip brownies?." I asked. He shook his head. I glanced over to Scruffy, Aunt Anne's dog who was sitting patiently on the carpet.
"I told you. It wasn't me." He exclaimed. His fingers began to wiggle, telling me that he is lying. I glanced over at Scruffy again, he began to whimper.
"Lies Haz. Let the battle begin. Scruffy." I said. I looked over at Scruffy who had a CD player beside him, I nodded as he placed his paw on the player playing the music. I looked at the ground, using my one hand to position my hat. As the music played, I began to wiggle my fingers. I squinted my eyes watching Harry very closely. I could feel my palm brush closely to the belt. Once the music was almost to the end, I steadied my hands as I positioned them. The tape began to click, click, click until it came to a stop. I pulled out my guns as fast as I can, making sure it was faster then Harry.
"Stop right there cowgirl and cowboy." I heard a women say. I lifted my large hat revealing my mom.
"Lower that gun of yours Selena, time for you and Haz to go for trick or treating." She reminded me. I lowered my gun and placed it back into my belt. I groaned.
"Do we have too." I whined. Harry then went over to the front door and putted his shoes on.
"I'm afraid so Honey." My mom said as she went over to me and placed her hand on my back, leading me to the door.
"But I'm a big girl now, big girls don't go trick or treating." I explained. My mom sighed as she grabbed my pumpkin basket and Harry's Spider-Man basket.
"I know honey but I promise you, if you want next year you can skip the candy." My mom said. I gave her small smile as I lazily walked out the door and sat on the door step.
"Have fun you too!" My mom said happily as she closed the door. I placed pumpkin basket on the step and sighed as Harry sat beside me.
"You know, we don't have to go trick or treating this year if you want." He smiled. I smiled back.
"I'm ten years old. Ten years old don't go trick or treating. At least that's what my friends told me." I sighed. Some of my friends told me that they aren't going to go trick or treating, and they said if I go then I'm still a baby. I don''t want to be a baby, that's why i'll prove to them that I can be a big girl. As I began to fiddle with my fingers, I heard a bunch of laughter from the distance. As I stared at the gate in front of me, a bunch of girls passed by.
"Hey Selena. Come trick or treating with us!" I heard a girl cry out. I quickly stood up followed by Harry in shock.
"Amanda, Cassie? What are you doing trick or treating? I thought you said that you weren't going." I asked confused. They both looked at each other and then back at me.
"Um We decided to drop the bet. Anybody in any age can go for candy. Come on!" Amanda explained as she gestured to come over.
"Oh and bring Harry along too." Cassie said as she began to smile and twirl her hair. Man she has a huge crush on Harry I mean. I glanced over at Harry who gave me a cheeky smile. Well Harry is kinda cute but i seriously don't have a crush on him, yet. I grabbed my pumpkin bucket and ran down the stairs followed by my best friend. Harry.
I walked over to the costume that was laid poorly on the rank. I sighed letting some of the wet tears fall. Its been so long and I feel so guilty for leaving him. For denying our relationship. For letting go of my love for him. I've been so stupid for the couple of months and I regret it now.
"Selena! I found the perfect costume-" Demi started off. I quickly wiped my tears and turned around.
"Demi.... I told you that-."
"Selena listen. This costume is for me, don't get all worried around me." She admit. I breathed out relief. I glanced at the costume that was laid in Demi's hand. It was skeleton outfit.
"A Skeleton suit." I said if I sounded bored. She nodded her head with a grin on her face. I laughed.
"Well ok then."
"What's you costume?" She asked. I peered over to the cowgirl costume that laid beside. I picked it up and aimed it at the air.
"This one." I said. Wearing this may be heart breaking but it can also remind me that Harry will always be there beside me even though he's not here.
