5. The town
I tried to live my life my way, as always, and I was often on the town with Marry. One day she was startled when we went round among the shops.
"A guy's been following us!" she whispered, and pushed easily on me. I spun around and didn't see at first who she meant.
"The guy in black ..." she whispered, and immediately caught a guy my attention. I didn't see his face, and he stared into a shop window. He had a gray cap, black jacket and worn pants. I felt that he was no threat, and laughed a little bit.
"He's just a guy who deals with clothing."
Marry wasn't as sure of that view.
"He has gone after us in twenty minutes."
I sighed and pulled her, with me, towards new places.
"Everyone has the right to walk in the streets and visit the shops."
Marry sighed and followed me.
"But for twenty minutes?"
I smiled at her.
"There are certainly those who believe that we trying to follow them?"
She smiled weakly and shook her head.
"We don't do that."
"And neither the guy behind us? Maybe he's looking for clothes, or a piece of jewellery to his girlfriend?"
We stayed a few hours later at a dinner place and chose, as always, to order in salad. We were in a good mood and I had got a brilliant day. Everything fell apart when I saw a guy on the other side of the road. Outside the diner aria stood the black-clad guy and he was staring right at us. I chose not to say anything to Marry, but she found him in the end.
"There he is again ..."
"Well, it's probably him?"
Marry couldn't let go of him with her eyes.
"And you said he wasn't following us?"
My imagination went into high gear.
"He may also be hungry?"
I didn't believe my own lies and Marry looked straight through me.
"So you also believe that he's following us?"
What would I answer?
"I don't know ..."
She quickly ate up the salad and drank the water.
"WE go home!"
I nodded a little bit and got up.
"Maybe we should take the bus or a taxi? Then he can't follow us?"
"And then there are people around us. Wonder who he is?"
I nodded and chose not to look at him.
In the evening, I got my answer. Niall had logged in on Facebook and wrote a private message to me.
"Did you have fun on the town?"
I realized immediately that it was he who had followed us.
"Are you crazy?" I wrote. "Was that you?"
He hesitated with the answer.
"Yes, it was me and I'm sorry if I scared you, but I didn't dare to go up to you. Not when she was with you."
"Stop it!" I wrote thus in reply. "You are a stalker or what? I'll call the police next time you follow me."
He didn't reply that message.
