1. A Lonely Child’s Imagination
Jessica Anderson was a lonely child at the age of 7. She had no friends, only a bunch of bullies who failed to understand the pain they put Jessica through everyday. Jessica eventually was fed up of having no one to talk to. She sat in her bedroom, thinking aloud to herself. “I wish I had a friend, just one would be enough for me”. She sighed and collapsed onto her bed, her face buried in her pillow. She thought for a moment, and then suddenly leaped out of bed with excitement. She yelled “I could have an imaginary friend!” She heard her parents shout from downstairs “keep the noise down!”
After apologizing to her parents, she began thinking aloud once more. “I should first think if I want him to be a boy or a girl”. Jessica laughed at what she had just said, “HIM! Looks like my mind has already answered that one for me”. Once she had finished giggling she said with a thoughtful smile on her face “now looks. He can have blue eyes like mine, but darker, and short blonde hair, because I have blonde hair”. She began thinking hard, until she saw a handsome young face before her. She laughed at the sight of a floating head before her. She began thinking up a body for her imaginary friend. “He has to be slim like me, but an athletic figure so he won’t be lazy, and will always be active”. Jessica burst out laughing as she shouted “NO CLOTHES!”
Jessica’s dad came to the door and shouted crossly “what on earth is so funny!” Jessica said with tears in her eyes because she was laughing so hard “theres a naked boy in my bedroom”. Her dad said crossly “don’t be so stupid” as he went back downstairs. ‘Please can you dress me Jess’ the boy said with embarrassment. Jessica tried not to laugh as she went on with “you should look smart. A white shirt, a stripy black and yellow tie, a black suit and black trowsers”. As Jessica spoke aloud, the items began to appear. The boy sighed with relief as he said ‘Phew, thank you, that was a bit awkward for me’. “Do you wanna be my friend?” Jessica asked with a friendly smile. The boy smiled back at her and said cheerfully ‘well you did create me, so it only seems fair’. Jessica shouted excitedly “so that’s a yes?” The boy smiled and said happily ‘yes, but what are you going to call me?’ Jessica thought hard for a second. She said aloud “you should have a unique name that no one else has”. The boy said thoughtfully ‘I know, why don’t you just say a random word that comes to mind, and that could be my name’. Jessica remained silent for a moment, then a smile spread across her face as she said loud and clear “Brillanill”.
