I know your secret...

Everything is alive. So be carefull what you say. The right people might hear the wrong things, and the wrong people might hear the right ones, and know what to do with it. One of those wrong people is Kindra Alexia. She just doesnt know it. She first figures out when she moves to Vienna, Virginia where she finds that everything is not what it seems. At all...

1. There is something seriously wrong with my fridge

It is a new day. Beautiful day. Oh who am I kidding! Mom´s not here anyway. Ok. It is a very ugly, sunny Friday afternoon. Here in Vienna. Dont get me wrong... It is wonderful here. But I´m lonely. And scared. And... Oh god how did mom convince me to do this again? I am, first of all talking about this stupid typing machine... If thats what it´s called... Second is how she got me to agree to go here in the first place. I am going to miss Leala... With all her Hola, encantado de conocerte which basically means: "Hi, nice to meet you... According to google translate... Oh god... I´m gonna miss her so much. Her Spanish was getting better along to the end... Click click click goes the typing machine...

Well, yours sincerely, Kindra Alexia...

I looked out of the window. The typewriter sat beside me in the windowsill, and I paused a moment before burrying my face in my hands. Tears silently slid down my cheeks, dripping onto the paper I had just written. My room was surrounded by boxes."One thing my room and I have in common..." I looked around. "Now it´s all the unpacking... Unpacking what is supposed to be a glamorous calming life." I sighed and got up from the bench in the windowsill. "Might as well get used to it now..." I muttered to herself.

"Honey? You home?" I slowly lifted the pillow from my face. "No ma, I am exploring the new town we just moved to." The sarcasm in my voice was unmistakable. "Well I just came back from the store... People are really nice here!" I got up from the floor. "Ma, we have been here for three hours. Things are not going to go this smoothly tomorrow." I could hear Ma unload the groceries. "And how do you know this grumpy?" Ma asked as  I came down the stairs. "Because I´m pretty sure we are going to sleep on the floor tonight. No beds genius!" I rolled my eyes. "What?" Ma put down the cabbage she was holding. "The beds aren´t here?" She groaned. "Well there must be something we can sleep on.... Right?" Ma looked doubtfully at me as I shook my head. "Not even... Like a sofa or something?" She was shrinking under my piercing stare. "Nope. Some dude, uh I dunno, uhm Clive, decided to sell all of our furniture. Jep. Smart dude. Gotta say." I rolled my eyes again. "Sweety, we´ll go shopping tomorrow!" I looked doubtfully at my mom. "Well, I believe that´s what you´re saying now... But tomorrow, there´s gonna be a new idea for Clive´s story, and he wont be able to drive me there. And you´ll side with him as always." I headed for the stairs, leaving Ma utterly bewildered. I heard her continuing to unload the groceries, but then she stopped. "Kindra, dear?" She got muffled sound in response. "I´ll take you shopping tomorrow..." I came rushing down the stairs. "Really?" I must have sounded surprised. "Yes really... And I´ll buy some furniture for the whole house. Like something that matches...." I rolled my eyes and smiled at Ma. "I think I´m giving you bad ideas ma...." I smiled at her but frowned. "But what about Clive... Wont he be needing you here to serve him food?" The sarcastic tone was back. "That man is nearly fifty. If he cant cook, he cant eat." I smiled at Ma at this accusation. "Ok... Thanks ma..." I gave Ma a hug.

"Do you know what´s wrong with the fridge?" Ma started pulling the fridge out of place, and searched it. "You know, that is a pretty old fridge... Maybe it´s time to get a new one..." I smiled mischievously at Ma. "Ok I´m driving a station wagon. Not a truck!" Ma laughed and continued poking around. "Uhh, Kindra?" I closed the fridge door. "Yeah... What?" I hurried over. There was a gaping hole in the floor, where the fridge had been before. "Aww, man, there is a gaping hole in my kitchen floor!" Ma stood up. "I wonder where it leads..." I started looking for a flashlight. "No, just... Lets push it back..." Ma started pushing with all her might, but nothing happened. "C´mon, give me a hand here Kindra..." she was soon out of breath. "I think this means that we should get a new fridge Ma... And I think the fridge agrees with me..." I smiled at myself, but then decided to help her Ma after I got thrown a look. Finally, we got the fridge into place. "Not a word..." Ma pointed a finger. "Uhh, why?" I raised an eyebrow. "Just... Please?" Ma looked so desperate, that I felt like I had no other choice. "Ok, but please explain this tomorrow in the car... Ok?" Ma nodded. "Ok... But now here´s the real question..." She put her arms to her hips. "Where in the world, are we going to sleep?"
