The next morning I wake up in my bed with Claire standing in the doorway holding Skippy on her finger. " A Tikara I haven't seen one if these since Lorien." She said smiling at skippy. "Well I hate to say it but he is probably the last one." I say slowly sitting up and rubbing my eyes.
"How did you get in here," I ask using my telekinesis to float a shirt over to me. "You don't remember we talked to your mom and she let me sleep in the guest room." She said walking into my room and sitting at the end of the bed.
" Does she know about how your like me," I say fully sitting up and getting out of my queen size bed with all black sheets and comforter. "Yeah I literally walked in and said Hi, I am Claire I'm special like Ed here," she said in a mocking voice, I just laughed at her.
"So I already got some of your stuff packed like your shoes, pants, and shirts." She said standing up and walking over to me with Skippy on her shoulder. "That's right today's my last day with my family," I said slowly looking down at my bare feet. "Its not as bad as you would think it is," Claire said rubbing my arm.
"Kids, breakfast! And that means you to Claire,'' My mom yelled from the kitchen. We walked from my room and down the hallway to the stairs. " Its better than you think and you might be surprised," Claire said while turning to me before we started walking down the stairs.
Claire and I walked down the wooden stairs and into the living room. My dad was sitting on the couch reading the newspaper, Austin was watching T.V, and Jess was sitting at the table eating some pancakes. "Since its your last day I thought I would make you, your favorite pancakes." my mom said with a plate stacked high with pancakes in here hands.
"You know about me leaving," I said sitting down next to Jessica and getting a plate from the middle of the table. Claire sat across from me and my mom next to her. Austin slowly got up and walked over and sat at the end of the rectangular table. My dad behind Austin and sat at the other end of the table, next to me. "Yes we all do, Claire here explained everything. Including Lorien." My mom said looking into my eyes.
"Nice catch Ed, she's a keeper," my dad whispered to me. "Daaad, she's not a catch she came to get me," I said groaning back. My mom and Claire looked to each other and just went back to their breakfast. "So Ed," Claire said slowly while sliding a fork full of pancakes into her mouth. "Yeah, what is it Claire," I said back slowly doing the same as she had. "I know something that you might be interested in." Claire said with a hint of bragging. " And that would be, come on spit it out," I said lifting my hand and getting a glass of orange juice.
"There is more to your light power than just light." she said putting her fork down and looking at me directly. "What do you mean more to my power." I said bringing the glass of juice to me with nothing more than a flick of my pointer finger. "You don't just control light you can control both light and darkness." Claire said bringing her fork back up with more pancakes on it. "What that's crazy I only control light," I said in non-belief. "Have you tried to control darkness." she said with a small amount of i'm better than you attitude.
"And there is one more thing you can manipulate color too," Claire said shoveling more pancakes down her throat. "Really that's kinda cool," I said eager to want to try out the new parts of my power. "Claire, can I ask you a question," I said getting up and walking over to the sink with my plate. "Anything,"she said walking behind me.
"This may be your last day Ed, but don't forget to put your plate in the dishwasher," my mother said not even turing around to look. "Sorry mom." I say walking back to the sink and putting both my plate and Claire's in the dish washer. I quickly ran up the stairs and started to pack the rest of my things. After about an hour of packing I had everything I needed.
"Claire could you explain your legacy to take other people's legacies," I ask turning around from the suit case packed with all my clothes. "I don't take others legacies, I simply borrow them," she said bringing a ball of light to her hand. "You see when I take one person's legacies the legacy that I took before simply goes away." she said sitting down on the messy bed that I need to make.
"How is it with...well you know," I asked trying not to sound nervous. " It's better than you think, we get treated like royalty. I mean there is a lot of training and some strict rules but other than that it's not that bad." Claire said slowly standing up and walking over to Skippy."So what time do we leave," I ask zipping up my bag and turning around. " Around five," Claire said unlocking Skippy's cage and picking him up.
I look over at my old alarm clock and see that its twelve. Thinking to myself I go back to our conversation about my power, and how I control darkness to. "So I can control darkness along with light." I ask slowly levitating my bag up and out of my room and down stairs to where I hoped was the front door. "Yup, and color, or at I think so, you see you got a legacy that could be 10 to 20 other legacies so its hard to pin point the exact legacy." Claire said letting Skippy out of her grasp and letting him fly around. We stood there watching him fly until he started to slow down and land on my shoulder.
"But we have all our lives to find out your legacy," she said slowly walking out of my room. Watching her walk out as I slowly start walking behind her. Keeping a good distance from her not to make things awkward. Seeing her long blonde hair flow down her back like a waterfall off the side of a cliff.
