I watched him for what I could see out the window a few feet away.
I had a pounding headache and could barely move.
I layered there helplessly. I heard footsteps getting closer so I pretended to sleep.
They arrived in the room and I opened one of my eyes to see.
It was a man with a white beard and white hair in a mini ponytail.
He came close to me and shut both of my eyes tight.
He tapped my shoulders and asked for me to wake up.
I pretended to stretch and rubbed my eyes.
"Stop pretending. I know you were awake." He tells me. I never responded.
I stare at him as he began to examine my arms and legs.
"Are you a doctor?" I ask him in curiousity. I don't know if I trust him.
"I'm a veterinarian. So I'm some what of a doctor." He smirks at me.
"Who is the boy?" I ask him. I couldn't take it back but yet I said it with no reason behind it.
"Who? Carl?" He looks at my neck only seeing wounds that happened long ago.
"Yeah." I respond. I don't want to speak too much.
"Well, what do you want to know?" He asks me. He sits back in the chair and stares at me.
I felt uncomfortable but he was the only one I could tell stuff too. I suddenly trust him at that moment.
I could've told him all about my life and who I was in a second. But I didn't.
"No. I- just wanted to know his name. That's all. He saved me so." I make an excuse.
But in my mind, I wanted to know his age, birthday, before life, favorite color, best memory. And why he saved me?
"Oh well, now you know." He grins at me and winks. "All you need is some treatment on your neck and some stitches on your arms. After that, you'll be ok."
He made me feel safe. I used to be scared to go to the doctor's office and have needles being stuck in me and medical equipment. But that was the first time I was able to smile and feel safe next to a stranger that says he is a doctor.
