"I'll go review that security feed." Josh sighed as he turned and started to walk towards the house.
"I'll go with you." Marcus announced as he caught up.
I was left alone.
I decided I would go look for Steven. As I walked around the property I noticed how woodsy it was. I heard a sniffle and I followed it. I found Stevan sitting by a lake staring into the water.
"Hey" I cooed gently as I sat next to him.
He looked at me and half smiled.
"Sorry I just..... I really hated my dads experiments." He said softly, "one of t-them is the reason m-my m-mom is gone..."
I nodded sympathetically.
"You don't have to talk about it if you go to want to" I told him gently. I felt bad. I did not want him to have to resurface old memories if he did not want to.
"No it's ok actually." He sighed, "I want to talk to you."
I'm suddenly happy when I know he trusts me.
"I don't know if she is actually dead...." He began, "she went back in time"
My eyes got wide, "Ur dad build a time machine!!???!!?" I whispered loudly.
He nodded. "But I guess not a very good one.... Mom never came back...."
There was a pause of scilence. I decided to change the topic, to a happier note.
"So... Ur dad was my dads brother right?" I asked elbowing him slightly.
"Yup.... At least that's what I've been told." He joked.
"Um steaven..." I whispered.
"Yes?" He replied.
"Um not to pry....but.... Did ur dad ever do any experiments on you?" I asked.
A smile crept across his face.
"What?" I asked.
"Let's see" he said looking up and pretending to think, "I can remember anything because I had some large amour of brain storage, I am a human lie detector and.... Oh ya. I may just possibly be immortal."
I giggled."you got a lot in your plate."
"I guess" he nodded. I felt my watch buzz and I turned my earpiece on.
"Yes?" I answered.
The voice on the other line was josh, "Meg?"
"That's my name" I replied.
"Ok we reviewed the security feed" he said.
My heart started besting really fast.
"Please say it wasn't me" I whispered.
"It wasn't you" he confirmed, "but worse"
My smile faded. "Who?"
