1. Moving Day
June 5, 2013
Today's the day. It's moving day. This will be the third move in the past two years. This means another town. Another house. Another school. And of course, another six months or so of my life that I get to spend alone with no friends.
Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Bri. Bri Pierce. I'm 17, a junior in high school. I live with my Mom. I've never met my father, and I don't think I ever will. The only thing my Mom ever told me about him was that he was a bad person and when he found out that she was pregnant he bailed. She never heard from him after that.
That's all I've ever known. I don't even know what his name is but oddly I'm ok with it. I've never pushed the subject and my mom has never really brought him up.
My mom is a great person and I love her but she can be kind of "spontaneous." When I say this I mean that she can never stay in one place for too long and we drop everything and move about once, sometimes even twice, a year and move.
Today will be the tenth move since I was eight years old. I'm definitely not looking forward to this one. We've only been in Nevada for six months and we're moving already. I was just starting to get into the swing of things here and now we're picking up and leaving again.
This time were going to California. Burbank to be exact. I've never been to California before but I have a feeling we won't be there for any longer than a year. It's like that in most places we've lived.
You see, I'm originally from Florida. We moved for the first time when I was eight. We went to Ohio. That lasted about ten months then off we went to Washington. I hated it there, it was always raining. After about a year and a half we moved to Montana. Then we moved to Maine. After that we were in Georgia. Next up: Louisiana. Then Minnesota. After seven months we picked up and moved to New Mexico. Then Nevada. Now were going to Burbank, California. I have to go. We're leaving now. Bye.
