5. Taking Centre Stage
I’m back, like I promised. I’m giving up valuable Xbox time for you mind. Mum nearly had to drag me away because I told her to if I didn’t move. As much as I love scribbling down my deepest thoughts and staring at your pale, pale face, I love my Xbox.
There’s a picture on this page for you. It will make you smile or cringe. It makes me cringe. This was the first time we met, remember? I’m in the front of the picture with all my drama buddies. I can see your face in the corner of the picture. You’re with Aidan. You two cute newbies.
I tried to be nice to you but I think I terrified you. Granted, singling you out and introducing myself and my group of friends may have seemed like a hunt in which you were a fox. You were polite though. With that little smile, you handled your fear well. Even though you always say you weren’t , I know I reduced you to a trembling leaf.
Then we got paired that same session and had to do improvisation. Our topic. Spade. Naturally, we changed it to suit our own tastes. Spade became spayed and we soon became a married couple taking our poor pet to the vet.
The next week you acknowledged me as we sat in our circle.
And the next week you actually said hello. It was a breakthrough.
And the next week…are you ready for this…you actually came to sit with me and my friends.
You’d found your place within Centre Stage.
