Sandra looked tired when she got to school. I wanted to run up to her and ask what had happened, but I didn't dare. She jumped out of Jeff's car, but she didn't look nearly as happy anymore. She went to school and looked down at the ground. As she paced me, she saw me. She was startled and quickly met my gaze. A faint smile and then she disappeared into the school. I cheered. She had yet seen me, and she had yet given me a smile.
I returned the jacket to Liam and he looked surprised.
"You mean you didn't want it?"
I shook my head and smiled at him.
"I just borrowed it?"
Liam laughed a little bit and looked at me for a while. It was as if he was thinking, and then he gave back the jacket to me.
"Think of it as a memory of your first party." he said happily. "I guess I owe you an apology? Police came and everything wasn't as planned."
I received the jacket and felt happy. It was like I had a new friend and he cared a little.
"It went great!" I replied. Liam nodded and looked curious out.
"So where did you hide?"
I wanted to tell the truth but I lied for Sandra's sake.
"I ran down to the lake and managed to lose them."
Liam seemed impressed.
"Oh, then you ran run into the water and the dogs couldn't track you, you're smart!"
I laughed and looked embarrassed down on the floor.
"Well, it was more cold than smart."
Liam patted me lightly on the back and looked pleased.
"You're a good guy Niall. Maybe next time we can have fun all night?"
"You will want to follow with me more times and I have nothing against you."
It was as if I had come to a realize. I realized how worthless life I was living and I regretted it almost. Why had I chosen the bad guys? Why did I loved to party and be the center of everything? I wanted to be more like all the other girls and live a more normal life.
"So you had time to escape?" asked Eleanor me. "I heard that the police caught up twenty people and they are still sitting in jail."
I met her gaze.
"Jeff came from that place in time and me to. How'd it go for you?"
"I was hiding in a tree house. The police didn't see the place in the dark and I slept there overnight. How about you?"
I became quiet. I wanted to tell her about the night, but I knew she would tell Jeff.
"I hid in a cabin." I replied shortly. "I slept there and took the bus home."
Niall kept his distance. I saw that he kept an eye on me and I wanted to go up to him. I wanted to hug him and tell him that I understood. I didn't want to be the cowardly girl who wouldn't show anything. Eventually, after school, I followed him. He and Harry rode to his street. I knew where Niall lived, so it wasn't hard to go there. He lived near the school, along with a normal family. I wasn't sure. Should I knock on the door? Should I throw stones at his window? I didn't know how to be against normal people. I stood outside his house and felt like an uninvited guest. Maybe he would get mad at me?
Niall had opened the front door and looked at me. I blushed slightly and kicked away a stone.
"I was wondering ..." what could I say? "May I come in?"
Niall nodded directly and let me in the hall. His mom sticking curiously out her head through the door and was surprised that I was there.
"This is Sandra!" said Niall directly. "A friend from school."
She seemed unsure and went back into the kitchen. I understood why. Maybe I was the one who didn't looked like a friend and my short dress said everything about me.
"She's just curious!" Niall muttered and went before me up to his room.
"What did you want?" he asked when he had closed the door. I felt like a kid again and I had no idea what I was doing there.
"I just wonder how it is with you?"
Niall smiled weakly and sat down at the desk.
"Why did you come here, you already know that I'm fine and that the day didn't contain anything stupid."
"I felt just to meet you."
Niall's face lit up and he smiled with his whole face.
"Admit that you have thought about me?"
I blushed and nodded weakly.
"It's not easy to not....."
He came up to me and took his arms around my waist. He hugged me and I felt his face against my cheek. I took my arms around his shoulders and closed my eyes. He smelled so clean and he was so soft. I just loved his presence and I loved to feel him near me. Why couldn't I break up with Jeff?
"I haven't stopped loving you." he whispered in my ear, and neither of us let go. "I want you to know that I don't regret anything."
He smiled and gave me a light kiss on the cheek.
"Are you aware that you took my virginity?"
I was startled and dropped him.
He didn't let go of me and smiled at my eyes.
"I wanted to tell that fact this weekend, but you didn't give me one chance."
I just wanted to scream out straight. I had ruined him! I had done what I wouldn't do and immediately I regretted everything.
"But why didn't you say no?"
He smiled calmly.
"Because I wanted to!"
"Niall, you can't mean ..."
He interrupted me.
"I wanted to do it with the most wonderful person I know about and the only one I had in my mind were you. I wanted you to get to be the first and you will be the last."
