The Power of Poseidon
Hours passed as Annabeth taught me all about my sword and how to use it. Finally, once I was ready to drop from exhaustion, Annabeth spoke up.
"I have to go discuss some things with Chiron now, so you can do whatever you like for awhile until we are done," she explained to me. I nodded, and she left. As soon as she was out of sight, I dropped to my knees and just sat there for awhile. I slowly got back to my feet and trudged over to the lake, which slightly reminded me of home. I slipped off my shoes and dipped my feet in the water, leaning back on my elbows and closing my eyes.
This moment of peace lasted, well, for only a moment before I heard a loud, arrogant voice behind me.
"Well, well, well, look who it is: Percy Jackson's twin. You know, I think I see the resemblance, you both have a natural way of being extremely annoying." I turn my head to see a stocky girl with two others behind her. I've heard about her. Clarisse is her name, and according to what I've heard people say about her, she is someone you really don't want to mess with. But, hearing what she has said to me, and looking at that little arrogant smirk she had on her face, made me really want to. I stood up and dusted myself off.
"Actually, I think the annoying one here is you. Maybe it's your voice, or maybe it just comes naturally to you." I said calmly, looking her in the eye. I watched as her eyes narrowed and her hands curled into fists.
"Watch your tone, punk, you have no idea who you're messing with. Maybe I should give you a little taste of what happens to people who back talk me." she snarled, taking a step towards me.
"Nah, I think I'll pass for now." I said as I examined my nails. She roared in anger, and lumbered towards me quickly for a girl her size. I only had a second to act before she threw a punch at me. I ducked, my face narrowly avoiding her fist, and I started to back up into the water. Unfortunately, she followed me, and in no time at all, she sent me reeling into the water.
I emerged, anger radiating off me in waves. Literally. The water grew and formed a wave about ten feet tall behind me. The wave then hurled at Clarisse and her henchmen, without touching me. They were slammed to the ground, gasping for breath. The water died down to it's original form, and I walked out of it completely dry. Clarisse gave me one last look of complete hatred before stomping off with her companions close behind.
I took a moment to digest what just happened, one thought running through my mind.
What. Just. Happened?
