14. A visit to Hogsmeade!

Hermione's POV

I really did feel sorry for Ginny, despite my laughing at her. I was no expert of course, but I could see that her being so awkward around Harry was scaring him off a little bit. So I was a bit shocked and surprised when he said, "Your sister is cute, Ron."

Ron seemed surprised like me, but then he blew it off, saying, "Nah, she's just annoying really."

There was a sort pause before I said, "Well I'm just going to go and get changed quickly," to break the ice, before gathering a pile of clothes and taking it all into the bathroom where I got changed as quickly as I possibly could.

Once I was changed, I came out of the bathroom to see that the boys were no where to be seen, but instead, Ginny was standing expectantly at the doorway of the tent. She seemed to have recovered from her embarrassment earlier in the morning, and was looking quite perky with a smile on her face.

"Come on then Hermione! Let's get these dresses!!!"

We were soon out of the castle and into the cool air of February. A thin layer of frost lay beneath our feet and it crunched every time we took a step. Ginny was bobbing along beside me, a happy smile on her face, and birds flying above our heads were singing a dainty little tune. As we walked through the school gates and down the winding road that lead to the village of Hogsmeade, we kept recognising friends that were also walking to where we were. Luna Lovegood soon caught up with us, and although I found her a bit strange and illogical, she seemed nice enough when she wasn't talking about rackspurts.

"What are you too doing today then?" she asked, her voice light and airy, seeming interested.

"Hermione and I were just going to go and buy some dresses for the Valentines day ball that we are attending. I'm going with Harry and Hermione is going with Ron, and we realised we didn't have any nice dresses to wear so we are going to buy some. Are you going with anyone?" Ginny said quite quickly

"Well, yes actually," Luna said confidently. "I was asked to go by Neville, and I knew that no one else would want to ask me so I decided to say yes. He is a bit strange sometimes, but I like him. Although his toad sometimes freaks me out." Ginny and I grinned at each other.

"Well, would you like to come shopping with us then Luna? You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to, but if you would like the company we are always here," I said, trying to sound as nice as I could, even though the girl sometimes got on my nerves.

"Yes, I would actually. I have a bit of leftover Christmas money that I could use to buy a dress."

"Okay then, let's go!" said Ginny happily.

We wondered around the cute little village for a while, just taking in it's cosiness, before we found a small dress shop towards the other end of the village. Ginny immediately dragged us in there, as there were some lovely looking dresses in the front window. We decided that instead of long ball gowns, we would go for more casual ones, as it was more of a party than a ball. We looked around for a while, looking at dresses that we might want to try and we all soon found some really nice ones.

Luna's was a burgundy coloured little thing that had a sparkly top half and a floaty bottom half that went down to just above her knees. Ginny picked up a very sparkly, strapless gold dress that was a bit shorter than Luna's and glowed brightly. I was quite surprised with the one I chose out, as I had never tried anything like it before. The sleeves were a black and flowery lace that went down to my wrists, and the lace part went quite far up to my neck. At my chest it became a block black colour with material that clung tightly to my body and somehow managed to make me look sort of - sexy.

As I came out of the changing room with it on, Ginny and Luna both gasped and clapped their hands in approval. I pretended to be a model and walked down the isle, swinging my hips and waving at non-existent fans.

"Oh Hermione, you look stunning!" Ginny squealed. "With a bit of makeup and a glamorous up do you would look flawless!'

"That dress is beautiful," said Luna. "It makes you look really sexy!"

I beamed at both of them, excitement suddenly building up inside. "Okay, now I really am excited," I admitted. It wasn't like me to be all girly, but at the moment I was so excited that I couldn't help it but giggle.

We soon bought all of the dresses, and began to make our way back to the edge of the village. Luna soon departed, leaving to go back up to the castle. We found the boys in the three broomsticks, as usual, and sat down with them and ordered some butter beer.

"How was shopping?" said Ron, although he seemed extremely uninterested.

"It was good, what have you two been up to?" I replied, almost as uninterested as him.

We continued to make small talk throughout the period of time where we were having our drinks, but we were all so tired that we weren't really paying much attention to each other - except from Ginny that was, who was chattering away pretty quickly. Soon we trudged back up to the castle. Ginny was babbling away to Harry with so much enthusiasm that when Ron and I caught each other's eyes it was all we could do to stop from bursting out laughing. We let them walk on a couple of paces in front of us and Ron then put his arm around he, knowing I was tired. I snuggled up to him. Although we didn't talk, it was the happiest I had been all day. We hadn't spoken at all to each other all day as we hadn't seen each other much, and it seemed like a relief to finally be in his company. I wondered if that was slightly unhealthy, especially as we weren't even officially going out yet.

When we finally got up to the castle, it was all I could do not to run up the stairs to the dorm and jump onto my huge four poster bed. I stayed up quite late reading in the small part of the common room that wasn't filled with tents, half listening to the boys' conversation and half concentrating on my book. However, as soon as Ron said he was going to bed, I quickly snapped my book shut and said I would come with him, as any excuse to go to bed was a good one at the moment. We left Harry and Ginny chatting away to each other and headed to our tent. Once inside we didn't speak much until we were both ready for sleep in our beds.

"I feel like I haven't spoken to you all day," Ron said quietly.

"Me too," I said. "How has your day been?"

"Quite a lot of fun actually. Harry, Neville, Dean, Seamus and I practically spent the whole day in Zonko's joke shop and Honeyduke's sweet shop. What about you?"

"Ginny was dragging me all over the place to try and find dresses for the dance," I admitted sheepishly.

"Oh, that's what you were doing," said Ron, chuckling to himself.

I yawned loudly, and then blushed crimson even though I knew he couldn't see me in the dark. He chuckled again.

"Night then Mione," he said yawning himself and turning around in his bed.

"Night Ron," I barely whispered before I fell into a deep and dreamless sleep.

I know it is a boring chapter, but it's the dance next, so be expecting more action! I think I'm going to go to sleep too now5tr4tfty67u6tr5f[p-0oiuy76t5r4ewtggthyhjuyyyyyyyygbb
