9. chapter 8

"Cole.." I mumbled. "Cole.." I sat up quickly. Well now I'm having weird dreams. I threw my hands to my side and hit something solid. I slowly looked to my side. Cole... He lay beside me. The events of the night flew through my mind. I stayed at his. I say up with my head in hands. Now that I think of it. My head is pounding, it's like I've got a wee drummer guy inside my brain playing music as loud as it can!

"Lola are you okay?" Yawned cole.

"Oh! You're awake!" I jumped and looked at him.

He laughed a little. "No seriously. Are you okay? You look as if you're going to start crying..." He sat up and looked at me.

"Yea. Just a sore head." I basically choked on my air when I looked down and saw he was shirtless. He had two grim reapers tattooed onto his skin with two names in the middle of them. John and Marco. "Who's John and Marco?" I asked.

He flinched, I had hit a sore spot. "Well.. Um." He coughed. "They died. They used to help up with things."

"How did they die?" I knelt up.

"They got bitten by something." He looked at me with sadness in his eyes that was unreal.

I've never heard of anything that can bite you and kill you! "Bitten by what ?" I say soft.

"Can we not talk about it please?" He looked as if he might actually cry.

"Cole. Seriously. What bit them?" I pushed.

"Please Lola! Please! I don't want to talk about it!" He coughed trying to cover up that a sob escaped his mouth.

"Okay.." I whispered , "I'm sorry.."

"It's okay love. I'll go get you some paracetamol." He got up and walked out of the room. I shaked my head once he left.

"I always need to keep pushing people don't I!" I groaned and chucked the bracelet I had on my wrist across the room, it smashed against the wall. I gasped and got up quickly picking all the little shards of plastic up.

"Lola! What did you do?!" Gasped cole as he walked in on me picking up the parts of the bracelet.

"Nothing." I swallowed.

He sighed and walked over. He placed his hands on my shoulders and spinned he to face him. "Tell me, what's wrong?"

"my anger just got the best of me." I held onto my bracelet tightly, "mè drôćon sta." I whispered to myself .

"What?" Cole asked as soon as I uttered they three words. I held my fixed bracelet out as an answer. "Oh. How'd you do that?" He muttered transfixed.

"Angel. Remember?" I laughed and stood up. He took the bracelet and clipped it onto my wrist and smiled. "Thanks."

"Now why did your anger get the better of you?"

"It's just I always push people far. Then I end up loosing them. But you wouldn't tell me what bit your friends. I've never heard of something being able to bite and kill. Like never." I said more to myself.

"You've never heard of them?" Gasped cole. I nodded. " you're an angel. You're parents must be keeping you from the truth. What creatures do you know of?"

"Well most of the things that live inbetween heaven and here." I whispered.

"What about hell?"

"Hell doesn't exist cole. Don't be stupid."

"Well it isn't hell exactly. It's a form of hell. Where you die, bit you don't really die."

"What are you getting at cole?" I asked and furrowed my eyebrows together.

"Well. There's creatures that when you die you can become. But you don't exactly die. And you don't exactly live." He stopped to see of I was joking. "There's something called zombies lola. There everywhere. You mustn't have came across one before." He paused. "Lola. That's what we hunt. Zombies. I thought you knew of them. But now I've got to train you harder than I thought." He sighed. "We better get you home anyway. I promised you father to bring you home early. " I didn't say anything except nod. He rolled his eyes and pulled on a shirt before we both jogged down the stairs and to his car.

"Now I'll pick you up at 4:00." Called cole as he reminded me for like the hundredth time. I walked into the house rolling my eyes then stomped straight into the living room to my parents.

"why didn't you tell me about zombies!" I shouted putting my hands on my hips.

"Darling. Zombies! Who told you?!" My dad rushed the words out of his mouth.

"Cole did! I could've been bitten by one of these things and you didn't even bother to tell me!" I scoffed and stomped my way up the stairs and to my room making sure I slammed my door shut.

My mother stalked into my room moments later. "Darling. I never thought you would need to know about them. I'm sorry. You're father always said we'd tell you when you were a little older." She rolled her eyes. "But thanks to cole we don't have to!" She clapped and smiled trying to make me laugh. I just frowned at her. "I'm sorry." She frowned too.

"It's okay." I mumbles , she sighed and walked out of the room knowing it was useless.

Like zombies'd think they'd tell me...
